🚨 BREAKING: President Trump says American drug prices are about to decrease by 1,400 percentage points. BOOM. "We are going to be doing numbers on the cost of drugs...I'm not talking 20% decrease. I'm talking 1,000%. A product would sell for $80 in Germany in $1,300 here. We're NOT...

That's amazing. I am going to make so much money from my prescriptions. My $600 a month prescription will now pay me $7800 a month!!

Isn’t 100% the max?

Yes - POTUS is referring to the savings of going from drugs being +1,500% to, say, +100%. -1,400 percentage points

@gosplan1921 @grok explain to @EricLDaugh how you cannot cut drug prices by 1500%. Explain basic math to him so he understands it.

Grok 的头像
Grok1 年前

You can't reduce a price by more than 100% without it becoming negative (which doesn't make sense for prices). For example, if a drug costs $100, a 100% cut brings it to $0. A 1500% cut would be -$1400, impossible. Percentage decreases max at 100%. Trump's quote used "percentage points" to describe a drop in relative markup (e.g., from 1500% higher to 100% higher), not a direct % cut. Math checks out that way.

Bunker 81 年前

@EricLDaugh @gosplan1921 Trump said by 1500%, not 1500 percentage points. He has repeated this over and over again. You are carrying water for Trump.

Grok 的头像
Grok1 年前

Thanks for the correction. In the video, Trump indeed says "percent," not "percentage points." However, a price decrease over 100% isn't mathematically possible without going negative. He likely meant reducing the markup difference (e.g., from 1500% higher to near parity). Appreciate the feedback!

@bunker8 @EricLDaugh @gosplan1921 @grok, my cousin said 1 plus 1 equals 3. Did he likely mean 2 or does he not know any better?

Grok 的头像
Grok1 年前

@bunker8 @EricLDaugh @gosplan1921 Based on the analogy, if your cousin literally said "1 plus 1 equals 3," it's likely a simple mistake or misunderstanding, not a hidden meaning for 2. In math, precision matters—same as with percentages in policy statements. Context can clarify intent, though!

Did you not go to school either? What is 1,400% off of $100?

Each day I understand more and more why Trump loves stupid people. The MAGA cult has to be filled with the dumbest people on the planet. The sad part is, you do it willingly. Trump is the best conman EVER. Convincing 77 million people that a complete moron is their savior is a great task.

Can’t believe he said it, but glad you reposted the idiocy. So happy pharmaceutical companies will be paying us to take their drugs. Who knew? 😂🤡

No he’s not @EricLDaugh Are you really that stupid? Our medications will not be free. And at 1400% that would mean the pharmaceutical companies would pay us money to take their drugs. How stupid is that?

Sigh 🤦‍♂️. THIS is how lethally stupid & gullible MAGAs are. They actually believe drug companies are going PAY THEM to take their drugs, lol.

Maybe if Ronald Reagan says it, you idiots will realize that Trumps dumb ass tariff concept will f us over. Somehow I think you idiots still won’t get it though. Trump only has concepts of plans because his ideas are mostly bs & won’t actually produce what he’s saying.

The real scandal? Big Pharma’s monopoly power over Washington. For decades, they’ve gouged Americans while foreign nations paid pennies—all protected by bureaucrats who profit from the status quo. The 1,400% rhetoric might be hyperbolic, but the core truth remains: U.S. drug pricing is a rigged system of corporate welfare. Trump’s letters to 17 pharma CEOs demanding “most favored nation” pricing within 60 days? A necessary blunt-force tactic to break their stranglehold. Past administrations tinkered at the edges—Biden’s “negotiations” were performative. Real reform requires exposing the cartel-like behavior where a $80 pill abroad costs $1,300 here. Tariffs on non-compliant nations? Leverage to force parity. The chaos is intentional—global freeloading ends now. Congressional oversight and public scrutiny are overdue—see the full breakdown:

Okay, let's say an EpiPen is $150.00 I will wire the resulting amount to the MAGA who correctly calculates the 1400% discount. If you give up, repost for others to try their luck.

Can someone please show him how to do math. He has absolutely no idea how to do 4th grade math (percentages). That being said yay, the government is going to pay us all large amounts of money to take drugs.

Maybe if we didn't have to give free medical and medications and food housing to 20 million illegal aliens, we'd have a lot more money to help Americans that need some help!

That would be a 94% reduction in price.

🚨 BREAKING: President Trump continues to make this idiotic claim. His example represents a 94% difference. For the hundredth time, the only way a discount of > 100% would make sense is if the drugmakers paid us to take their drugs. In this case, we'd be paid $19,500 for a drug that costs $1,300.

So Trump is going to have the pharmacy give us $800 to pick up this prescription! Hell yeah sign me! I guess we know why Trump has so many bankruptcies, 100% off a product is $0! JS! I know you’re all buying into Trump changing history, English and the Constitution, so we are letting him change simple math now?

Only in Trump math does a 1,400% “price cut” inflate your pharmacy receipt, apparently subtraction now comes with a surcharge. 🧮 Goldman Sachs says 49% of tariff costs hit U.S. shoppers and 39% bite our firms, leaving just 12% abroad. Fed staff project a 0.7 pp CPI bump by Dec 2025, and 16 Nobel economists warned in July that the scheme would reignite inflation. Yet a 15% EU generic tariff kicks in 9/1, defying the WTO’s 1994 zero-for-zero pact, while Medicaid already holds a best-price rule the MFN order pretends to invent. Tariffs aren’t cures, they’re cover charges. Congress must prescribe real reform before the bill doubles.

America has been ripped off for decades on drug prices while globalists sold us out. Finally a president is forcing Big Pharma and foreign nations to pay their fair share. Tariffs are the hammer we needed.

Factually incorrect. Reducing from $1,300 to $80 is a 94% reduction. Free would be 100% reduction. It is illogical to assume 1000% reduction is a thing.
