After she posted the video, ICE even attempted to reach out to her to get her information on her clients. In fact, many of the individuals in ICE detention at the Plymouth Correctional Facility have open immigration cases and prior to their arbitrary arrests, were seeking to comply with the formal processes governing applications for immigrant visas, asylum, and humanitarian parole. Absent meaningful reforms including removing masks, wearing name tags, requiring body cameras, and strict compliance with Constitutional standards, ICE should not be allowed to operate. I joined Rep. Jim McGovern and Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley to conduct Congressional Oversight at the Plymouth Correctional Facility. We must continue to conduct oversight inspections of ICE facilities to better ensure their compliance with the law.

Ansari: Well, they just murdered two people in a week, so that’s the bare minimum they should do. I think ICE has been this paramilitary force for Donald Trump and Stephen Miller now for well over a year and a half, throughout the entirety of the second Trump presidency. They have fatally shot 11 people. They have locked up tens of thousands in horrific detention centers across this country because they want two private prison companies to make money. I think ICE should be abolished. I think we need to prosecute the people who are carrying out these crimes. But it also shows that when Americans speak up—when Americans call their members of Congress and organize protests—it does make a difference. Americans, by and large, are outraged by ICE now. ICE is extremely unpopular. Donald Trump is underwater as it pertains to his immigration enforcement policies. So, yeah, the administration is realizing this. But let’s not give them any accolades for it. This is not something that ever should have happened in the first place. ICE should not be operating this way. What they’re doing is not law enforcement.
