I know many people internationally may not have paid much attention to boxer Denis Madry, who was stopped in the sixth round by Igor Pryga on Saturday in Dzierzoniow, Poland 🇵🇱, but I would like to say a few words about him. Denis was one of those fighters that promoters and matchmakers loved, because he always gave his best and thrilled the fans m regardless of whether he won or lost. I remember his excellent fight against the highly decorated amateur boxer Mateusz Polski, where, despite being clearly outmatched, he delivered a gripping and courageous performance thanks to his passionate approach. He left his heart in the ring in every fight, and on Saturday that very trait became his downfall. Denis Madry likely never made much money in boxing and was mostly brought in to lose, but he entertained and impressed all of us with his character. The most profound part of James Talarico conversation with Joe Rogan was the part where he shared his “why”. Why did he run State Representative in the first place? He told the story of one his student named Justin. He talked about the connection he built with Justin, the improvements Justin began to show in the classroom, and then how state lawmakers failed Justin by cutting education funding. The cuts in funding led to a critical mental health support being taken away from Justin and ultimately his expulsion. At the center of the criteria by which Rep. Talarico examines the merits of policy is “whether it will help my students or hurt my students.” That's being a good shepherd, a good leader, and thinking about the most vulnerable among us. To restore dignity to our politics we have to center people over the powerful/politically connected in the policy development process. Thank you for serving and for engaging in ths space Rep. Today, I remember Dr. Herbert Wigwe, C.F.R, a mentor, a builder, and one of the people who changed the course of my life. Long before many believed in the possibilities we now see across African fintech, Herbert challenged me to think bigger. He pushed me to be bold, stay resilient, and keep going even when the path was uncertain. I still hear his words: “Only the test of fire makes very fine steel.” He invested in people, in ideas, and in the future of Africa. His guidance and belief played a meaningful role in shaping my journey and the early steps that eventually led to building Flutterwave. At critical moments, his encouragement reminded me to hang in there and trust the process. His passing left a deep personal and professional void, and his legacy lives on in the lives he impacted, the institutions he built, and the dreams he helped ignite. I remain grateful for his mentorship, his wisdom, and his belief in what was possible. We will continue to build, lead, and dream bigger, carrying forward the values he lived by.

Everyone thought that Scarface would lose the fight.Scarface was injured in his foot, but he emerged victorious and kept Marsupial's head for two weeks before throwing it away. In 2016, he and his brothers Sekiu, Hunter and Murami got into a fight with 6 lions and killed 2 of them on their own. A few days before his death, Scarface walked several miles back to his home and birthplace. On his way, the lions gave him food instead of attacking him. This is unusual in the animal world but Scarface broke the rule and gained great respect from everyone. He was buried by the National Geographic team in honor of his legendary life... the lion who was only defeated by death.
