He intentionally sabotaged the bill with term limits for SCOTUS. They are never serous about these things. Put bans on stock trading for Congress + spouses in as a clean bill. That would never happen because then you could actually hold them accountable.

Politicians get into politics for the perks. The pander to lobbyists and get on committees to get insider information to trade stocks and make millions. The salary is just a little side gig. After they become millionaires we pay them for the rest of their lives.
