We can now confirm the new hybrid diesel-electric tank has a pure electric mode using battery power. You can clearly hear the 12V cylinders rumble in the ZTZ-99B, while the ZTZ-100 is much quieter with a similar sized engine. This because the electric motors help to drive the tank, allowing the diesel engine to stay at a lower RPM.
