He found an exploit and documented it, Tesla knows about it and can fix it He got a 2.5 hour ride as a reward from that In the early phases of deployment I think more people should try to mess things up so they get discovered and patched Seems more than fair to me

Are you referring to when he did it back in November?

It’s on Tesla for not fixing it, likely it wasn’t top priority back then But again, people who try to exploit the system and document it generate so so much more useful information than people who just ride along And you want that as early as possible

If a user can do something, they will do something. Not saying he's in the right here, but he actually did Tesla a favour for exposing this loophole in the system

I think it's fine. He intended to pay the expected expensive fare and only found out it was only $4 at the end. And it's interesting for the viewers to know unsupervised is capable of a 2.5 hour continuous ride. I get that it's frustrating for you given your attempts so far

I couldn’t care less. It just seems very douchy.

Here is why I argue it’s fine and maybe even important. Tesla needs to fix the software so people can’t abuse it, without people acting badly, finding loopholes etc when it goes wide release major issues will happen.

He deserves an award and to be at the top of the @fsd_database leaderboard for longest duration ride

@fsd_database Why? Really those those leader boards should be filled by the Robotaxi Supervisors who spend day in and day out riding around their entire shift without a single intervention.

I don’t see demand level leveling off for years. This guy is the first of many that are going to take a long trip. At least the cars can drive themselves into a hotspot unlike rideshare bikes/scooters that always have to get trucked around. Can’t wait to take the cab to Wisconsin for a ski day trip

@fsd_database So that’s the thing Trent, he did not take a long trip.

@fsd_database There’s no app parameter he broke but the rider should have to get permission from support if pin gets changed more than a few times or just have a hard limit. Glad he stress tested it and found the breaking point so the flaw didn’t happen when the user base was larger.

@fsd_database He did the same thing in November.

@fsd_database That’s kind of lame then but at this point it’s more on the app developers than the white hat hacker

Exposed a flaw in the Tesla system and now it's up to Tesla to fix that in their software. He deserves an award for helping Tesla know about it before the Tesla system goes wide. Some people ridicule him because they are afraid it will harm Tesla. Beta testers have been ridiculed for exposing flaws in FSD for years. These people don't understand the purpose of testing. It's not to advertise how great something is. Beta testing by volunteers is to discover bugs so the company can fix it. Yes, we early adopters are beta testers either formally or informally.

What? This guy is nothing more than a selfish clout chaser. He did the same thing last November and kept a Tesla Employee with him in the vehicle for 3.5 hours. Insane

It's a free country, why not 🤷🏼♂️

I hope he is blocked from the service for a long time if not permanently.

Flood Austin with way more unsupervised robotaxi

I don’t think he’d understand what you’re saying, but I have an answer - engagements and impressions

Sorry for being so German, but that sounds less like people using an actual Robotaxi network and more like kids fighting over the only motorcycle on a horse themed Merry-Go-Around on the local fair.

🎯

Don't lose sleep over it mate. You seem ultra worked up for some reason, when it doesn't really affect you.

It was a total d-ck move. Hope he gets warned. Can you imagine if everyone did that?

He is living in a different city so wanted to experience enough. That’s all. Fair paying prices Using the services that he wanted. If he did it every single day, it would be a major problem. But that is not the case here. And he even said “That’s enough. I will just wait until the service launches in my city. I think you are overreacting on it.

You just be high. He backpedaled like a child caught with his hand in the cookie jar. Pathetic and unquestionably selfish. And what was the “fair price”? The $4 he bragged about paying? How about the fact that he did the same stunt last November with a Tesla Employee in the vehicle for 3.5 hours. This guy is a total loser. 🤣

I understand your opinion as well. I do not know the reason why the service charge was only $4 for it. But i also take it as a chance to improve the service. Because someone did take a cap for 2 hours, the price should be much higher than $4. Now the team might notice it, And will fix it. I think there should be more unusual cases in the future and it is just one of the unusual cases. But i also think there would be someone waiting for taking the robotaxi at the same time. It could make the person angry about it. Hope you guys do not argue anymore.

Not a cap by the way. I was going to type “cab” 😂

I think he did a dirtbag thing but I’m disappointed in Tesla for allowing it. His card should have been for couple hundred

🤣

I understand what u saying but I think of it like this, he is doing a favor to the promotion of fsd by showing how safe it is.

Concordo com você.

That is definite manipulation and not fair to others.

I kinda feel that's on Tesla, nothing in a bad way, but a glitch in the system that they will fix. That's why it's a slow roll out. But yeah probably should have given those waiting a turn.

Yeah, complete jerk. Hope he gets banned from the platform no more Robotaxi for him @robotaxi

He is just one of those exited Tesla fans that want to show the world how good Tesla Robotaxi is.And he just did it. Tesla needs them!

Is it still $4.20 flat rate??

Robotaxi ban the fucker for life

Fine him $200!! Cancel his future rides!! Give him a ride to the police station 🤡

I am happy Tesla found out now. They can fix the 4$ part. Part of the learning curve is finding edge cases like this. I dont really care as long as he needs to pay for the full ride. And now Tesla found out a loophole. I am sure Tesla is totally fine with it. They learned more from this than 10 standard trips from a BBQ place to the TacoBell.

I honestly don’t know why everyone is getting upset about this. You could do that with an uber so why should we not allow it with robotaxi? If the goal of robotaxi is to replace uber then you should be able to do all the same stuff. He actually found a bug with their software and he only got charged $4 this is good because now tesla can patch that issue.

And this is why @DavidMoss couldn’t find one after like 69 rides 😂

The TL;DR here is that of course it’s stupid and inconsiderate behaviour. Better, though, that this happens at a much earlier stage than once the service could effectively be sabotaged at scale.

Bro, Koreans are always trying to push the system to the brink.

Yeah I hope they stop people from abusing the system. What did you find about the compressor noise?

better luck next time
