It's nice showmanship, but I am sure Senator Kennedy would agree the temporary hold on a Senator's salary would not impact them greatly, when you factor in the enormous money they bring in from "Other Sources!"

It’s all theatrics. They’re in a different tax bracket than your average American. They can afford to miss some paychecks.

How about if they grow the Federal deficit they are not allowed to run for reelection.

👍 Everyone in Congress needs to support this. Their jobs should be more important than their personal agendas. If you don’t remember their jobs are to represent their constituents. Sometimes it’s hard to tell what they are supporting but it’s not the voters.

Senators and Congressmen need to share the pain inflicted on the American people whenever there is a shutdown. They also should absolutely NOT be the ones voting on this. It is most certainly a conflict of interest! This must only be decided by the American citizens or by executive order.

How about banning all of their stock trades while the government is shut down as well.
