🚨 JUST IN: The US Senate is about to vote on paying ESSENTIAL WORKERS during the shutdown and Democrats are considering REJECTING it in favor of a "political gimmick." "It's hard to defend voting against this." "But the Democrats WILL try to counter it with a political gimmick which would pay federal employees ONCE, but then continue the shutdown." "This is all about politics with them."

I’m urging President Donald J. Trump to form a bipartisan commission of 3 Republicans and 3 Democrats to find a solution to the shutdown over the course of 30 days. In exchange, Democrats must reopen the government and pay our workers and soldiers. Fox News Sunday Shannon Bream

House Democrats warning Senate Democrats not to vote for GOP spending bill — as many Senate Dems torn with shutdown looming. Pramila Jayapal warning of a “backlash” for Senate Dems who vote for it. “They should refuse to allow this bill to pass in the Senate,” she told me. If they don’t? “I think there's going to be huge backlash from across the country, and I think all of them will have to deal with the consequences of that,” Jayapal said. AOC: “The Republicans have the White House, the Senate and the House. If they want to do this, and if they want to screw over the American people, they can do this with their votes and their party. I do not believe that Democrats should participate.” Sixty votes will be needed in the 53-47 GOP-led Senate to break a filibuster. Shutdown deadline: 11:59p Friday. The House is on recess after passing bill.

Republicans brought a bill to pay essential federal workers during the shutdown. 👉Senate Democrats blocked it yesterday. They also introduced the Keep SNAP Funded Act to keep food benefits flowing — the White House even said it would back it. Democrats haven’t allowed a vote yet. If you’re on SNAP, your “safety net, nanny-state” party is playing shutdown politics. Lean on your church, your neighbors, and your food bank — because the nanny state isn’t feeding you anymore.

🚨 UPDATE: The House has PASSED a funding bill to block Democrats' government shutdown for the midterms, ensuring agencies are funded through the November elections with a CR 204 DEMOCRATS JUST VOTED FOR A SHUTDOWN! Do NOT LET DEMOCRATS hold DHS, TSA, and other crucial agencies hostage again! Senate Leader Thune has said he will craft his own version of a CR, however, which means it would need to go back to the House SPEAKER JOHNSON: "Given that Democrats have already forced the two longest government shutdowns in American history this Congress, it’s clear they don’t care what kind of pain they inflict on the American people or the hundreds of thousands of federal workers who would be forced to work without pay." "House Republicans today took the responsible step of passing a clean, short-term continuing resolution to fund our government through the November elections."

🚨 Calling balls and strikes, this is a good bill from Leader John Thune. He just filed cloture to force a vote on a resolution to withhold Senators’ pay during any future government shutdown. If it passes, Senators’ paychecks get locked up in a vault until the shutdown ends. No back pay for them while furloughed workers and troops suffer. Will 7 Democrats have the guts to own shutdowns alongside our troops and first responders?!

We Asked Airline Passengers: How Do You Feel About the Shutdown Ending? The U.S. House of Representatives is expected to vote on a funding bill tonight, potentially bringing about the end of the longest government shutdown in American history. The initial funding deal passed in the Senate earlier this week after eight Democrats’ joined the Republican side. On Tuesday, 6% of flights at 40 of the nation’s busiest airports were cut to comply with the Federal Aviation Administration’s shutdown guidance, according to NBC News. The Daily Signal traveled to one of these affected airports, Reagan Washington National, outside Washington, D.C., to ask passengers how exactly the shutdown has impacted their travel and their feelings about the government potentially reopening. Here’s what they told us: “I am excited because it needs to go ahead and get passed. We're over it.” “I'm disappointed that the Republican Party was willing to take food away from children, and I'm disappointed that the Democrats basically gave away the one opportunity to negotiate for stronger safety net for all of us.” 📽️✂️Olivia Pero 🎙️ Tim Kennedy

Unlike federal workers, our federal contractors — that includes food service workers and janitorial staff who keep Congress running - did not receive back pay after the government shutdown ended. Ms. Willie has been a federal contractor for 44 years at the Library of Congress. During the shutdown she and her fellow UNITE HERE members joined me for lunch at my office. They missed paychecks during Republicans' government shutdown & had to find other ways to keep her bills paid. I'm fighting for our workers to get the back pay they deserve, and my Fair Pay for Federal Contractors Act would do just that. Congress should pass our bill immediately.

The House passed a measure late Friday night to fund every agency under the Department of Homeland Security at current levels through May 22, marking the latest attempt to end a partial government shutdown that began on Feb. 14. Still, the government shutdown appears far from over as the 60-day funding measure heads to the Senate, which began a two-week recess after unanimously passing a different bill overnight following weeks of stalled negotiations. The Senate bill funds all of DHS except ICE and parts of CBP, but excludes immigration enforcement reforms demanded by Democrats after the fatal shootings of two Americans in Minnesota. House conservatives opposed the Senate legislation because it lacked funding for immigration agencies and did not include voter ID requirements. House Democrats, meanwhile, said they would not approve funding for immigration enforcement without a number of reforms, which Republicans have repeatedly rejected.

Rep. Thomas Massie has been proven right in just 48 hours as Democrats, including Chuck Schumer, prepare to vote in favor of advancing the GOP spending bill to prevent a government shutdown. Massie called out the fake fight in the House, predicting it would become obvious once Senate Democrats backed the bill. From the start, he insisted that both parties were secretly working together.

🚨 BREAKING: Leader John Thune UNLEASHES on Democrats on the Senate floor 🔥🔥 "The VAST MAJORITY of Democrats in THIS BODY were perfectly willing to prolong the shutdown and the American people's PAIN!" "This would fix EVERY SINGLE ISSUE. It would pay troops, fund SNAP, Head Start, Veterans programs, PAY OUR STAFFERS! 3 Democrat senators already support that." "The Democrat from Maine, who supported the clean CR, said, 'the work won't be any easier if Mainers are suffering the harms of a government shutdown.'" "It should NOT be this hard for a handful of Democrats to support a clean bill that simply reopens the government. It's VERY straightforward." "It's a 24-page bill, sitting right here. Not a SINGLE new Republican policy. No partisan policy writers. NOTHING Democrats haven't supported before, on numerous occasions." "Had Democrats opened it last week, President Trump would be meeting with them THIS week."

🚨 BREAKING: Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) tells Democrats NO, he's NOT shutting down the government this week — and he won't defund DHS OR ICE Chuck Schumer is FURIOUS! "I will NEVER vote to shut our government down...I reject calls to defund or abolish ICE." Fetterman says he'd like to see changes, but he is indicating he will STILL vote to keep the government open if it comes to that — breaking with other Democrats, who want to force a shutdown to get these changes. Bill needs 60 votes. Fetterman said here, in November 2025 during the last shutdown: "My party crossed a line."
