WhatsApp is working on a feature to share spoiler messages! The demo video is OUT! WhatsApp will make it easier for users to send messages that can hide sensitive content behind a blurred layer. The video shows the new formatting tool that will allow users to hide selected text as spoiler content before sending a message. Recipients would be able to tap the message to reveal the text. This would help people share messages without immediately exposing the details. The feature will also reduce accidental spoilers in group chats where not everyone wants to see the same information at the same time. It will be compatible with text messages and media captions. In the future, it may support photo and video content as well. The feature is under testing, and it will be available to beta testers soon.

We applaud Governor Hochul for calling for strong, consistent online safety protections in New York and for outlining sensible priorities for legislation. Several of the Governor’s priorities, including default-off settings for minors and parental controls, are safeguards we have already implemented on Roblox. Another, advanced age verification, is currently being rolled out globally. Estimating the age of users who want to communicate on Roblox helps limit kids to chatting with other kids, not unknown adults by default. We also go further in key areas of online safety. For example, we do not allow users to send each other images or videos on our platform. This work is ongoing, and we know no system is perfect, so we continue to strengthen protections to help keep users safe, as well as working to educate parents about online safety. While the legislative process is just beginning in New York, we are supportive of the Governor’s online safety initiative and the priorities she has outlined. We look forward to reviewing the details of the proposal and working collaboratively on these efforts to make the digital world safer for children.

You can add other people into convos with ChatGPT, with a few useful settings: - Link to join or manual invites - Custom group instructions - Memory that is only persistent in-Chat (and it doesn’t borrow from personal Memory) - Tagging and ability to tell ChatGPT to auto-respond or wait The fact that this is embedded inside ChatGPT instead of a standalone app says to me it’s intended less as a WhatsApp replacement and more for task or project-specific use cases.

Yesterday, we traveled to one of the main detention centers in Mariona, El Salvador, but unsurprisingly, access was denied. A prison guard confirmed that nobody has been allowed to enter any of the detention centers, not even family members. They also confirmed that detainees are not allowed to make sporadic phone calls to their family members. We also met with victims of human rights abuses, including several men who were detained for over a year under the exception regime, and who still have other family members inside the prisons. They were fishermen, peasants, ordinary and hardworking individuals who were taken by the police and thrown in prison without any proper hearings, access to their lawyers or their families, and who shared with us the torture and inhumane conditions they suffered and witnessed in the different detention centers they were held in. While we formally requested access to CECOT, where ten of our Venezuelan clients are detained, and to the Centro Industrial Penitenciario in Santa Ana, where Kilmar Abrego Garcia is detained, the Salvadorian authorities have not responded to our requests.

We just received a bounty reward from UniFi for reporting a vulnerability affecting UniFi OS devices. As part of the Hakai Labs (Hakai Offsec) research team at QuimeraX Intelligence, we independently identified a Path Traversal vulnerability (CVE-2026-34911) that allowed an attacker with network access to access internal routes on the underlying system without a valid token, exposing a sensitive information. Our research was conducted independently, but the vulnerability we reported could be chained with other vulnerabilities disclosed during the same period, including Improper Access Control and Command Injection flaws reported by other researchers. When combined, these issues lead to a pre-auth RCE affecting multiple UniFi OS products. Affected products include UDM, UDM-Pro, UDM-SE, UDM-Pro-Max, EFG, UDW, UDR, UDR7, Express 7, UNVR, UNVR-Pro, UNVR-Instant, ENVR, UCG-Ultra, UCG-Max, UCG-Fiber, and several other UniFi OS devices. We strongly recommend updating affected systems to the latest available version. Technical details remain under coordinated disclosure, and the only public information currently available is UniFi’s Security Advisory Bulletin.

There are indications that Innbucks is in the process of testing a Visa Card, with certain individuals having early access. While this is a natural and positive progression, we believe its arrival won't be earth-shattering, despite claims from some early cardholders. Currently, there are several cards available for making international payments, including the Omari and Ecocash virtual and physical cards. Most people only have a couple of subscriptions per month, often totaling less than US$50. Therefore, any cost savings from the Innbucks card are unlikely to be significant compared to what's already on the market. The main advantage of the Innbucks card will be that users won't need to transfer funds to another wallet, providing an additional backup card to use. We would be glad to be proven wrong, but we expect this to be just another card with features similar to existing options. And guess what? She was logged out of her WhatsApp account, and the scammer was texting her contacts pretending to be her. They were asking for money or codes to also hijack their WhatsApp accounts. It’s even worse when this happens when you’re boarding a flight and you are in a hurry. The scammer had changed group settings where she was an admin and even changed the backup email ID so we couldn’t log back in. The folks at Meta were super helpful and restored her access. So far, it looks like there are no IT/tenant-level override controls. This experience change is targeted at getting more users using teams/channels. Most Teams users live in "chats", not teams/channels. There will undoubtedly be some pushback from users who use teams/channels well and like having the mental separation of teams/channels vs chats. I've been fortunate to be using it for a while, and I'm personally a big fan; my use of the correct channels has gone way up, and now I can find them all in one place in the app, particularly on mobile. As we (RKF) wrapped up our first aid distribution in Herat, there are still thousands of families in need of urgent humanitarian support who were forced from their damaged or destroyed homes after the devastating #HeratEarthquake. It has jeopardised the well-being of children and elderly leaving them without access to essential services including, shelter, clean water, medical care and other basic necessities. Update #CycloneDitwah #IndianArmy as part of its ongoing efforts to assist #SriLanka under #OperationSagarBandhu, has facilitated the delivery of three sets of Bailey Bridges from Engineer Stores Depot, #ESD Delhi Cantt, which were airlifted to Colombo. Over 80 trucks were mobilised to prepare and load the bridge components within 48 hours, enabling the Engineer Task Force to support essential connectivity efforts during this difficult period for affected communities. These bridges will provide crucial links for residents, relief teams and ongoing recovery operations, helping restore access where it is urgently needed. WhatsApp had no code reviews after in-place. WhatsApp cofounder, Brian Acton, reviewed the very first pull request of each new hire, and after that, there were no more code reviews. Jean recounts how Brian reviewed her debut PR in extreme detail. This first (and only!) review set the bar high, and she wrote code to that standard from then on. 2. WhatsApp had close to zero formal processes. WhatsApp had no Scrum, no Agile, no TDD (test driven development), and no formal code reviews beyond the first commit. In contrast, Skype had 1,000 engineers and mandatory Scrum training, but WhatsApp still outcompeted it and won. Jean’s response to hearing of all the formal processes Skype used in order to execute faster: “I’m surprised to hear they thought they were shipping faster because of it.” Perhaps process is often a substitute for trust, not quality?” 3. Saying “no” to features was a competitive advantage. WhatsApp’s CEO, Jan Koum, rejected 99% of feature requests from the team. While competitors shipped dozens of shiny, new features, WhatsApp ruthlessly prioritized reliability and simplicity. Jan repeatedly told the team what the mission was. “I want a grandma living in the countryside to be able to use our app”, he said.
