Speaking to supporters on Wednesday, Trump blamed the administration of former U.S. president Joe Biden for the way the withdrawal was handled, particularly the departure from Bagram Air Base and the abandonment of American military assets. “Instead of leaving with dignity and strength, they ran away,” Trump said. “There was really no reason for it. We were there, and I had said we would leave with power and dignity.” Trump added that although the Taliban did not like him, they would still carry out what he asked. “The Taliban didn’t like me, but they did whatever I wanted,” he said.
