BREAKING: Temecula Valley USD’s board adopted a parental notification policy by a vote of 3-2, becoming the 4th school district in California to do so. Temecula’s policy was modeled after Murrieta and requires parents be notified when their child requests to be treated as transgender at school.

I spoke at the Murrieta, CA school board meeting last night regarding parental notification when a child adopts a cross sex identity. The community stood up for children. The policy passed. Social transition is not a neutral intervention. It is a complex psychological intervention, it leads to a pathway of medicalization and cannot be carried out by a teacher.

The activist, referred to as "Dale," came to the Newport News School Board meeting on Tuesday to discuss a new policy that would allow transgender students to use their chosen names and preferred pronouns during school hours if they choose. "To the parents who oppose this policy, if your child does not want to tell you they are transgender, it is because they don't trust you," Dale said. "You have not earned their trust." Dale went on to say that "God made them this way" and told parents it's "not too late" for parents to accept that.
