For the past five years, I have fought to pass legislation that would allow judges to keep those charged with the most violent offenses behind bars without bail until their trial. The two migrants that recently entered the U.S. and are now charged with the murder of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray are perfect examples of when bail should be denied. Since they are charged with capital murder, current law would allow that, and we will be watching to see what the judge does in this case.
