But it's something that was in your control? It wasn't a storm it wasn't an earthquake. It was a computer failure at they let happen by not being prepared. So people lose out because of your incompetence?? No sorry, I'd be seeing you in court.

I completely support this decision. Where are they supposed to get the compensation from? The tens of billions of profits they make every year? The multimillion bonuses the CEO takes home per annum? No, that simply wouldn’t be fair. The poor people must suffer more.

Airlines still owe meals, hotels and a refund or reroute. The “extraordinary circumstances” line only blocks the cash payout; not the duty of care. Check travel insurance next.

Had a 21 hr delay recently coming home from Turkey. @TUIUK refused my compensation request for the cancelled flight citing extraordinary circumstances. They weren't even prepared to reimburse the cost of phone calls & Internet in trying to sort things out when nothing was offered

That’s nice. A system that’s failed 3 times in recent years. Passengers stranded in airports overseas. Forced to find and pay for flights 2 days later, hotel costs, food etc. Over £500 spent. ‘Nothing to do with us’ The head HAS to go

I’m sure a lawyer somewhere will argue that due to the frequency of ATC outages over recent years they cannot be argued as “extraordinary circumstances”

If this company is allowed to use the term ‘extraordinary circumstances’ instead of ‘incompetence’ and get away with it, this will set a precedent and allow other companies to pull the same scam!

I don't see how my arrival flight into LHR yesterday, that was stuck on the tarmac for 5 hours, doesn't qualify for the later arrival compensation?

No cover from your airline but what about travel insurance? Are they going to say no? If so it begs the question what is the point with insurance if they find a way not to pay.

What’s extraordinary is the CEO’s £1.4 million salary including bonuses for presiding over 3 of these extraordinary circumstances and that they couldn’t stump up a few quid in compensation from their last years £243 million profits.

That's disgusting. Lot's of people/families will have lost a lot of money because of this. Someone needs to be accountable for what has happened and anyone who has lost money because of it should be fully reimbursed

Given NETS is owned/majorty stakeholders being the GOV/ the airlines, yes they clearly are directly involved in its operation. As such should be compensating for their combined poor management and customer impact.

Compensation is additional. Compensation for being disrupted. Nothing to do with duty of care which legally every airline/ insurance has to pay for. Ie replacement flight, hotel, food.

That is a disgrace Sloppy shoulders and not take ownership ! If the system is not fit for purpose - why has it not been effectively managed What’s the schedule for ongoing IT monitoring and proactive maintenance! Who is undertaking auditing of these systems ! External

I don’t care about compensation I just want to get from A to B . And I want the systems scrutinised as it does not give me calm and trust if the NATS has these outages on an annual basis .

Passengers should at least be refunded any money they have lost through this. Flight refund plus hotels they had paid for etc. the hotels won’t have to refund people cos it’s not their fault they couldn’t get.
