"It is no secret that we are often frustrated by the UK Government's decisions in relation to asylum and migration matters," she added. James also criticised "negative effects" of what she considered hardline UK Government policies on asylum, and confirmed she planned to intervene. "We are continuing to consider improvements that we can make to support those seeking sanctuary, including looking at extending eligibility for education grants and concessionary transport to asylum seekers," she said.
