NOW: President Trump celebrates the "very big moment" of Raul Castro being indicted and what it means to the Cuban people: "We have Cuba on our mind, it's very important.... It was a very big moment for people, not only Cuban Americans, but people who came from Cuba, that want to go back to Cuba, see their family in Cuba." "They supported me to the nth degree, they supported me at levels that nobody's ever seen before. And so I think it's a very important moment."

🔹Interviewer: Is Cuba preparing for a U.S. attack? 🇨🇺 President Díaz-Canel: There are clear threats in U.S. rhetoric. Cuba has done nothing to threaten the U.S. We hear statements that “Cuba is next.” As leaders, we must take that seriously and protect our people. We are preparing for defense. Our doctrine is defensive, not aggressive. It is called the “War of All the People,” based on popular participation. Every citizen has a role. Preparation for defense is the best way to avoid war and preserve peace.

President Donald J. Trump appears to have softened his stance recently on Cuba, telling reporters earlier at his Mar-a-Lago Resort that talks are ongoing with high-level officials and he thinks a deal will be made with Cuba. Reporter: “Mr. President, what do you want out of a Cuba deal?” Trump: “Well, Cuba is a failing nation. It has been for a long time. But now it doesn't have Venezuela to prop it up. So we're talking to the people from Cuba - the highest people in Cuba - to see what happens. I want the people that came here that were horribly treated by Cuba to be taken care of, to be able to go back and do what they have to do. You know, they have their family there. They haven't been able to see them in years - many, many years. So, I think we're going to make a deal with Cuba… It's in bad shape. Cuba is in bad shape. Cuba has a humanitarian problem.”

Is the U.S. military laying the groundwork to invade Cuba? Internal U.S. Army messages indicate they may be preparing to provide Southern Command with police forces, medical personnel and other support units which could signal preparations for military action on the island. Just days ago at the United Nations, Trump said: “Freedom will come to Cuba, very, very soon.” Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said that the only path forward for Cuba is a new government. Are we about to take it over?

🚨 At CUNY’s Cuba Conference, NNOC Co-Chair Praises Cuban Intelligence Apparatus, Calls to Discourage U.S. Military Enlistment Onyesonwu Chatoyer, co-chair of the National Network on Cuba, said that when it comes to defending Cuba, activists should “follow the lead of the Cubans,” pointing to what she described as a “really highly advanced intelligence apparatus” and a “politically conscious population.” Framing the United States as “the belly of the beast,”a familiar piece of revolutionary anti-imperialist language, she argued that activists here should focus on stopping young people from joining the U.S. military. “We have to get our people to stop joining… we have to stop them from joining the military,” she said, adding that people “cannot pick up the gun for the U.S. empire.”

BREAKING | 🇺🇸🇨🇺‼️‼️ The U.S. military is conducting contingency planning for possible military action against Cuba, with internal planning documents indicating that certain forces could potentially be required within a 90-to-120-day timeframe, according to CBS News. CBS News says senior Pentagon officials have been examining possible military options involving Cuba as part of ongoing contingency planning. U.S. officials have stressed that the existence of military plans does not mean President Donald Trump or the Pentagon has made a decision to launch an operation. The reported timeframe makes the planning noteworthy, but it should not be confused with an order to invade Cuba. What it does show is that Washington is moving beyond purely theoretical discussion and examining what forces could be required if the administration ultimately chose a military option. Cuba's President Miguel Díaz-Canel: Cuba has never attacked the United States. Cuba has never committed an act of terrorism against the United States. On the contrary, terrorist acts have come from the United States against Cuba. More than 3,000 people have been victims of terrorism originating from the United States against Cuba. Cuba does not represent a threat to the national security of the United States. That is a lie they constantly repeat, even though U.S. intelligence agencies and military agencies know that Cuba poses no danger to the national security of the United States. It is a pretext they keep repeating in order to turn it into a false truth. While we continue expressing our willingness to engage in dialogue, we are also preparing ourselves so that there will be no surprise and no defeat.

Is there a risk that Trump is merely pressuring Cuba? No. A landslide victory in Cuba holds political value for Trump capable of overriding the fiasco in Iran. Cuba is a communist island about 100km from American territory, a symbol of a decades-long dispute, and a country that confronted the U.S. by financing and arming revolutionary groups in several Latin american countries for many years. A successful invasion of Cuba would end this cycle, giving Trump something his predecessors were unable to achieve. Trump needs this and will carry out the military operation. More than that, it is a card that no one considered at a time when Trump was seen as defeated, without any chance in the elections. Cuba can provide oxygen and a victory narrative for Donald Trump, giving him new life in the midterm elections. Even with further mistakes in a new Iranian operation, closing the cycle of interventions with a victory in Cuba brings a major prize for Trump. The $100 million in aid provided by Trump is part of a plan he is working on to ensure less hostility during a military action. It is not just about reading the military apparatus and the drone and aircraft flights around Cuba that have become routine, but about an entire political juncture that is now connected to this movement. This is what distinguishes geopolitical analysis from mere military analysis. How will the Democrats handle this? Is there power to prevent an action in Cuba? That is the point today.

The Pentagon has been quietly drawing up plans for possible military action in Cuba, including an option of an Army-led assault spearheaded by thousands of soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division, which specializes in lightning ground assaults, multiple U.S. officials with knowledge of the discussions told CBS News. The officials, who spoke to CBS News under condition of anonymity to discuss national security matters, stressed that the briefings are not an indication that President Trump or the Pentagon have decided to carry out an operation.

"THE U.S. RELOCATES TWO NAVY SHIPS TO THE NORTH OF CUBA" After the capture of former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in a groundbreaking military operation, the U.S. has shifted some of its naval assets to a location just miles from Cuba, a maneuver that redefines the pressure in the region. The amphibious ships USS Iwo Jima and USS San Antonio, essential to the operation that led to Maduro's apprehension, have been repositioned to the Atlantic, off Cuba's northern shore. I warned early on that Cuba is the next target. I believe we will see regime change within a few months......

BREAKING: Secretary of State Marco Rubio hits back at claims of a U.S. oil blockade on Cuba: "Here's what's happening with Cuba, okay? Cuba used to get free oil from Venezuela. They would take like 60% of that oil and resell it for cash. It wouldn't even go to benefit the people. So the only blockade that's happened is ... the Venezuelans have decided we're not giving you free oil anymore." "The reason that I can't fix it is not just because they're communist. That's bad enough, but they're incompetent communists."

Russia Rejects Asking U.S. Permission to Aid Cuba Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova responds to a question about U.S. actions involving a Russian humanitarian fuel shipment to Cuba. She emphasizes that Russia has always supported Cuba despite the long-standing U.S. blockade and rejects the idea that Moscow needs permission from United States to provide humanitarian aid. Zakharova highlights Russia’s consistent position at the United Nations General Assembly, where calls to lift the blockade on Cuba have been repeatedly raised. She describes the issue not as a matter of requests, but as a demand to end restrictions affecting food, medicine, fuel, and essential supplies for the Cuban people. The briefing also references the historical context of Russia–Cuba relations, including cooperation dating back to the Soviet era and major global events like the Cuban Missile Crisis.

WHY WAS CUBA EVER CONSIDERED A SPONSOR OF TERRORISM? On January 14, 2025, outgoing U.S. President Joe Biden announced that Cuba would be removed from Washington’s so-called “State Sponsors of Terrorism” list. Just one week later, on January 21, newly inaugurated President Donald Trump reversed the decision and added Cuba right back on. But we must ask: why was Cuba ever on this list? According to the U.S. State Department, Cuba was listed for its “long history of providing advice, haven, communications, training, and financial support to guerrilla groups and individual terrorists.” But those “terrorists” were actually revolutionary and anti-colonial fighters across Latin America and Africa. In 1975, Cuba sent tens of thousands of troops to Angola to help the MPLA fight apartheid South African forces. Around 10,000 Cubans died defending African liberation. Their sacrifice was decisive in the defeat of apartheid. Cuba also supported pro Lumumba forces in the Congo against the CIA backed Mobutu regime, and stood with Amílcar Cabral in the liberation of Guinea Bissau and Cape Verde. Cuba did not support terrorism. Cuba supported liberation. Cuba fought and bled for Africa. When the U.S. calls Cuba a “state sponsor of terrorism,” it is effectively labelling Africa’s freedom fighters, Agostinho Neto, Amílcar Cabral, and others, as terrorists. That is not just an insult to Cuba. It is an insult to Africa itself. The truth is that “terrorism” has long been a political weapon of empire, used to criminalise those who resist colonial domination and foreign occupation. It was abused during the Cold War, in the so-called “War on Terror,” and it continues to be abused today to target independent nations that refuse to bow to U.S. power. Cuba fought for Africa. And Cuba has paid a price. The Global South must stand with Cuba against this ongoing persecution.
