Instead, the regime plans to limit any response to symbolic strikes against abandoned military bases previously used by the U.S. military in the Middle East. Any missile strike on Israel would inevitably drag the Israeli defense forces and defense establishment into the war—something the regime wants to avoid, as Israel remains determined to finish what was left unfinished during the June 2025 war. In addition to this morning’s strikes against the Arak Nuclear Complex (IR-40) in Western Iran, the Israeli Air Force also struck dozens of other targets across Iran. Overnight, 40 fighter jets with the Israeli Air Force, at the precise intelligence direction of the Intelligence Directorate, struck dozens of military targets in Tehran and additional areas throughout Iran, using over 100 munitions, including a nuclear weapons development site in the area of Natanz as well as factories producing raw materials, components used in the assembly of ballistic missiles, and sites for the production of air-defense systems and missiles by the Iranian Armed Forces. Furthermore, strikes were also carried out against air-defense batteries, surface-to-surface missile storage sites, detection radar systems, and detection equipment, all used and operated by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as well as the Iranian Armed Forces.
