Tear gas was used to disperse protesters who were calling for the release of 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos from a detention facility in Dilley, Texas, The Party for Socialism and Liberation said. Protesters and congressional leaders gathered outside the facility on Wednesday, calling for improved conditions at the center and for the release of Ramos, who was detained by ICE agents alongside his father in Minneapolis on January 20.

According to the eyewitnesses, his father was detained for being an undocumented immigrant, at which point the ICE agents detained the 5-year-old. When an adult who lived in the household offered to take care of him, the ICE agent refused that offer and instead took Ramos to the door of his family home and used him as bait to try to lure more family members out.
