Tariffs are a flat sales tax on imports. Taxes are adjusted for income, unlike tariffs. So tariffs means the less income you have, the higher percentage of your income is spent on those taxes. Wealthy people like Trump loves this, because it means they don't have to pay as much as you.

That would be incredible if it works but prices for consumers would probably increase for imported products but things made in America would be reasonably priced. I really did not have an opinion about IRS until now. For the first time in over for 40 years, my 2025 return showed a refund. Woo! Hoo, I said. The State sent my money three weeks after filing. BUT IRS wanted to verify my identity and this task was outsourced. That took two weeks of waiting for the Zoom interview, Once the identity was cleared, IRS had questions about the return. They were stupidly questions that had nothing to do with accuracy. One question was to name my bank. Huh? I answered all the idiotic questions without slitting my wrists. The last communication from IRS was they need to check the accuracy of the return and then maybe at end of July, they will let me know if I deserved my refund. If this timeline sticks, that will be over four months of IRS incompetence. Fire them all.
