BREAKING UPDATE: Five people are dead and five others injured after an Amazon cargo plane overshot the runway at Miami International Airport and struck vehicles on a nearby road, according to the mayor.

32-year-old converted 767 leaves a 9,000-ft runway at 112 knots and slams into traffic. That’s not a small error.

It is an extremely sad story.... Thankful that it wasn't even worse than it was.

@MattDevittWX @amazon and @MiamiDadeCounty are going to have some serious lawsuits after this. I know exactly where this happened and I’m honestly surprised it hasn’t happened before A chain link fence isn’t a real safety barrier between a runway and a major thoroughfare

Is Amazon on its way down? Not only have their delivery drivers been exposed online & ring cameras, I had to file a formal complaint against their stupid return/refund policy. I know I’ll never order from them ever again. Bring back our brick & mortar stores please🙏

A horrific tragedy. Beyond the immediate investigation into mechanical failure or weather, the FAA and NTSB need to address whether runway safety margins near high-traffic public roads at MIA meet modern safety protocols.

Sounds like a lawsuit from the 5 families to Amazon is going to happen very soon

This will continue to get worse until we lose 3 passenger planes in the span of ~3 months. Only when people become scared to fly will they overhaul this broken system.
