Thank you Senator Marshall! They've been doing it since 2022 when they overstated jobs by over a million. The "errors" are significant and always in their favor. Statistically impossible. There needs to be consequences or they'll keep doing it.

While patients wait years for surgery and months to see a specialist, Wes Streeting and Keir Starmer are threatening to cut the number of NHS specialist doctor training jobs. Most people don’t realise this, but doctors can’t just become Consultants, Surgeons or GPs on their own. They have to get a speciality training job first. These jobs are controlled and capped by the Government. So when the Government talks about cutting speciality training jobs, what they are really talking about is cutting the number of future specialist doctors in this country. At a time when the NHS already doesn’t have enough doctors. At a time when waiting lists are in the millions. At a time when patients are waiting months just to see a specialist and years for operations. Cutting the number of specialist training jobs will not fix the NHS. It will make waiting lists longer. It will make it harder to see a doctor. It will make the NHS worse for patients. Not a temp work visa - he wants to give them permanent residency which also means the ability to apply for citizenship. Facts: There are about 11 million 'Degreed Stem' Jobs in the U.S. Between foreign born citizens and foreign work visa holders, about 7.5 million of those jobs are already held by foreigners. There are about 4.2 million native born Americans working in these degreed STEM jobs today. We are already a minority in degreed STEM jobs. There are 12 million American citizens with STEM degrees not working in STEM. How many degreed STEM jobs does Trump think there are? Stop offshoring of our service jobs. 40 years ago, the Hawke Labor government under Senator Button abolished tariffs completely and in doing so outsourced most of our manufacturing industry to China which eventually destroyed the Victorian economy. The idea was that the manufacturing jobs lost by Australians would be replaced by jobs in high skilled service industries. To support that idea, the Hawke Government under John Dawkins subsidised students going to University to acquire the skills needed to develop these so called service jobs. Of course, these sectors never eventuated and instead unproductive sectors like superannuation, childcare, financial services, NDIS and university jobs were created. Fast forward to 2023 and the Albanese government signed a Free Trade Agreement that would see many of our service jobs shifted offshore. As I revealed in estimates, the ATO does not withhold any tax paid to outsourced operations, so Australia not only loses more jobs and profits, but tax revenue as well. People First is the only party that will crack down on Free Trade Agreements such as the one we have with India to stop Australia’s prosperity and skills being lost. It’s really because we’ve helped tame the technology and figured out how to use it in the most effective way. So I think your question about augmentation versus replacement is the big question we have. If we can all agree that this is about making our jobs better, safer, easier, and more productive, then we’re all in. But if you’re looking to de-skill, dehumanize, and replace workers, to put people out on the street with no path forward, then absolutely you’re going to have a revolution. So I think that’s something we all need to be very real about and think seriously about. If we’re going to have productivity gains, working people—the ones who make these industries happen—need to share in that. There hasn’t been a lot of discussion about that here. Of course, in terms of how we create policies, how we create tax infrastructure, whether or not we are redistributing—yes, that word is a dirty word around here—we need to talk about it and confront how we’re going to make sure working people share in the gains of these technologies.
