As a Taiwanese, can't wait for the 'Stand with Taiwan' profile picture filters while I'm dodging missiles.

This confirms Washington’s strategy: deterrence and support from the outside, not boots on the ground. Taiwan is expected to hold with its own defenses while the US operates from the region.

Chinese landing ships wouldn't even make it across the strait. US subs and missiles will sink all of them.

The United States would only need to put boots on the ground if a beachhead was established. The Navy and Air Force will be what makes the difference.

I get all my advice on a military conflict with China from Tony Hu

On top of facing the United States, China would also have to contend with numerous U.S. allies. An attempt to invade Taiwan would likely result in a very unfavorable outcome for China.

Depends on whether China gains a beachhead or not.

This would make sense, since the US would be launching ships, jets, missiles and drones from places like Guam, Tinian, Palau, the Philippines, S. Korea, and Japan. But there is no way around the fact that if China invades Taiwan there will be huge naval battles in the South and East China Seas, probably also in the Philippine Sea and Sea of Japan. China isn't building a massive fleet centered around aircraft carriers for its health. China knows that if it invades Taiwan the US Navy and Air Force will try to stop them, and we haven't even talked about the major submarine campaign the US will launch against China as well.

ROFL!!!! Translation: Yeah… we’d rather not have to explain to American mothers why 5000 of their sons and daughters came back in body bags in the first 48 hours of getting involved in another needlessly war and sending them to die via participation in the Chinese civil war that has been going on since the 1930s.

A US naval presence in the area, assuming they are gonna actually fight, pretty much ends any invasion before it begins "But China has many ships bro. And missiles bro. And planes bro" You gotta be an idiot if you think they'll risk landing troops in the middle of that shit.

Why the F*** do we want to fight all these wars all the time.

Well I mean they're right. The US could cover Taiwan from the Philippines and Japan.

What made the stupid Hu to think that any soldier in Taiwan would fight. I bet one dollar that almost all of them will defect once PLA commences firing. Other than some top flag officers appointed by politicians, most Taiwan soldiers hate DPP

Good thing China has no missiles to counter US carrier groups. The only people who still believe in US supremacy are those that desperately want to

I’d love to see china embarrassed in front of the world. I can’t wait for them to make the horrible mistake of trying to take Taiwan and losing their navy in the process. The paper tiger has no clue what awaits them

Sounds like a roundabout way of saying "Well, if shit goes south too quickly, we'll ditch you"

Green light to China 🇨🇳

China doesn't even care about Taiwan. All they care about is that its not any kind of base of operations or under any kind of control or influence for any outside actors. One day nobody will give a shit and it will just all end. 15-30 years is my guess.

We stand with Taiwan. 🇹🇼 🇺🇸 Semper Fidelis

we all see that American posturing is just that. they will sell out their allies the moment the fighting starts.

If USA would defend Taiwan, all of US army defending would disappear within 1 hour. Oh, did you know that USA makes abt 6000 rockets of all kinds a year. And one fully automatised factory in China makes 200 a day of one type?

Taiwan needs missiles. Many times what they have. Not strawberry soldiers. The best place to put missiles in the mountains, dug in, close to the action, not far away in Guam etc. Taiwan is STILL not serious about its own defense. Pathetic defense budget.

Why bother sending in ground troops when the US has more than enough aircrafts (and drones) to fire their anti-ship missiles from a distance. China is damn proud of their ever growing naval fleet indicating they're in a WWII state of mind!😉

Warthog goes brrrrrrr

US will not need troops in Taiwan to counter Chinese attack

At some point you idiots have to realize that its a numbers game.....if China launched a full invasion we would only stop the first wave before we ran out of ammunition.... They would over run them with numbers... Sometimes $1,000,000,000 weapons become obsolete.....

US will never fight or defend Taiwan, they will try to prolong it so that more and more weapons can be sold and at the end Taiwan will go to China in a trade deal favouring US just like Ukraine. US don't fought for it's allies, rather it's use them to it's leverage.

fucking traitors.

Same as 🇺🇸 troops are not willing to land in Ukraine. Then, 🇺🇸is pressing 🇺🇦to cede the land to 🇷🇺.

Americans would not/will not respond. See: Security guarantees to South Vietnam and Ukraine (Budapest Memorandum)

I wouldn't count on Orange Shitler's support. Y'all sh!t out of luck.

US doesn't run around on the ground anymore until it's softened up... The military industrial establishment can't wait to supply another war, then buy big houses and fancy cars... When people aren't needed for war anymore they'll have to find another way to get rid of us

Oh, the festival of excuses has already begun. Nice.

If the US Navy built an incredibly strong submarine base in the Philippines, similar to the U-boat bases of World War II, and had dozens of submarines on standby, it would be easy to defend Taiwan.
