Following Netanyahu’s plans for the complete military takeover Gaza, Prime Minister Mark Carney was asked by CTV’s Judy Trinh if the government will “consider sanctions against Israel.” He refused to answer the question, and instead pivoted to Canada’s recent participation in an aid airdrop, which is little more than a publicity stunt. When the journalist follows up, “Are sanctions on the table against Israel? Is that being discussed?” Carney finally says: “I’m not on the cusp of making another announcement on this point.” Canada still refuses to take this crisis seriously. Israel is wiping Gaza off the face of the earth. A majority of Canadians recognize that this is genocide, yet Carney won’t do anything to stop it. We need immediate sanctions to protect the Palestinian people from genocide.
