Breaking… Alberta Premier Danielle Smith announces new free speech legislation to ensure that professional regulatory bodies can no longer limit the speech of professionals or “compel Albertans to some official version of truth.” Very good. 👍

I was very pleased to see this. I hope Smith fast tracks this and gets it done asap. 👍 As a teacher, I would like to no longer need to worry about losing my career just because some malcontents who disagree with me on Twitter figure out who I am and decide to destroy my career.

It will be nice when teachers who are NOT radical leftists can step out into the sunlight and speak.

Very much needed, unfortunately. I have been a Professional Engineer in Alberta for more than 35 years. The interference and overreach of the association into matters that are irrelevant to their mandate- which is only to ensure qualified and accountable practice of Engineering - for trendy political and social reasons has been infuriating. Every practicing Engineer I know who is not trying to advance themselves by being a player within the association detests what the association has become, versus what it was even 10 years ago.

Yes, this is needed and overdue.

Very good to see.

And, if C-63 (Online Harms) passes, then the Alberta government will need to put up a full free speech firewall to protect Albertans. After all, the freedom of speech is guaranteed in the Alberta Bill of Rights.

It's pretty dark that such legislation needs to be passed ! But that's where we are, whatever the normies might think about it ! ...

As an immigrant from a tyrannical dictatorship in Africa, I know what it feels like to like when freedom of speech is taken away. So I think this a great step in the right direction and a shining example for Canada 🇨🇦 and the western world as a whole. No society will without free speech.

this is what i was hoping for, she's not perfect but she is way better then any other lib or dem and it at least appears as though she is trying

Danielle Smith - the finest, most common sense and strong leader. Alberta is so lucky to have you. Thank you for protecting free speech. Our right to free speech is what protects all other personal freedoms and is a prerequisite for a free society. Without this - everything else fails - it is that important. Thank you Premier Smith!
