#WATCH | Mumbai: On Indigo flight delays, President, Federation of Indian Pilots, Captain CS Randhawa says, "Indigo operates approximately 2,200 flights all over India... Most of these flight disruptions, cancellations, and delays have been attributable to, firstly, the crew shortage... Secondly, they have been inducting aircraft. It must be appreciated that when you induct an aircraft, you must have an adequate number of crews per aircraft... Thirdly, Indigo pilots were flying about 55 to 57 hours. After 1st November, they offered pilots the option to buy back their leave... The crew rostering of the pilots was totally inappropriate. They did not plan the crews correctly... Lastly, after the second phase of the FDTL (Flight Duty Time Limitation), new CARs (Civil Aviation Requirements) came into effect by the order of the Delhi High Court on 1st of November. They immediately approached the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) and sought a variation. We have asked the DGCA how the variation or dispensation was given to Indigo and other airlines, as this CAR had to be implemented... I request the DGCA and the Ministry of Civil Aviation not to grant such dispensations and variations, and to implement the CAR in totality... There are a lot of remedial measures which Indigo has to take..."

What if one only one, I repeat only one passenger had objection to this behaviour - What would’ve been your stand on it? 3. Do you consider this nation as a Secular Country or not or there are pivilieges basis religion while flying in #Indigo? 4. Most importantly, what if similar behaviour were shown by majority of passengers belonging to some other community / religion - Would the stand of #Indigo have been similar? This is absolute nuisance and uncalled for - Is it a religious chariot that IndiGo is operating? Management should have taken proactive steps because the government policy didn't come about in 24 hours. It was deliberate for years. Then a year ago, the policy was finalised... Other operators, like Air India and SpiceJet, have prepared for this situation. They have planned for it, and we don't see those kinds of problems with any other operator... Indigo is not a startup anymore... But one of the things which perplexes me is the timing. The government policy started on 1st November 2025, and we are suddenly facing this rampage after one month... A lot of people are saying it is deliberate to push the government to revert to the old policy because the new policy has certain cost implications besides major induction... In the meantime, either Indigo has to reduce operations or go for a crash induction program. But even with that, even if you can get trained, qualified manpower, you still need almost a year, a year and a half, to induct and train them into your fleet. It's not that you shift from one car to another. Even if you are qualified in the same aircraft, you take time to familiarise yourself, get regulatory approvals and other things."

Arrogant Behaviour by Passenger at Kolkata Airport In a shocking and absolutely unacceptable incident at Kolkata Airport, an Indigo ground staff member was slapped by a frustrated passenger. The passenger, enraged over flight cancellations caused by an ongoing shortage of cabin crew, chose violence instead of dealing with the situation in a civil and responsible manner.Flight disruptions are undoubtedly frustrating for everyone, but that does not give any individual the right to assault frontline staff who are simply doing their job. These employees have no control over operational challenges, yet they are the ones who face the anger, abuse, and aggression of entitled passengers. Such behaviour reflects a growing problem in public spaces people believing that anger and assault are valid ways to express dissatisfaction. This kind of arrogance not only sets a horrible example but also threatens the safety and dignity of those who work tirelessly to support passengers, even during chaotic situations. It’s high time the public understands that violence is never a solution. If passengers face inconvenience, there are proper channels to raise complaints. Passengers at Bhubaneswar Airport were left stranded after an IndiGo flight scheduled to depart at 2:35 PM was reportedly cancelled at around 5:30 PM, several hours after the scheduled departure time, yesterday. They were not given timely information about the cancellation and, even by 6 PM, many were still waiting at the airport without clear communication or adequate assistance from the airline. One of the lady passengers have expressed her anger over the delay in informing them and alleged a lack of cooperation from IndiGo staff. Travellers say: "Our flight was scheduled for 2:35 PM. All of a sudden, it was cancelled at 5:30 PM without properly informing the passengers. We are stranded at Bhubaneswar Airport and have received no satisfactory response."

The tornado watch has been dropped, and the severe weather threat across the D.C. metro is greatly diminished. The long-track tornado and hurricane-force wind concerns we were watching earlier are no longer expected. That’s welcome news. Remember, nobody wants storms capable of damaging homes or taking lives. BREAKING IndiGO CEO ELBERS' Latest statement. Dear IndiGo Colleagues, It is Sunday afternoon, Dec 7th , I am standing here at IndiGo’s Operations Control Centre. As you can see the buzz going on in the background, my colleagues here are working relentlessly to further stabilize and normalize the IndiGo operations. For me, they symbolize the unwavering spirit, professionalism and incredible commitment of all at IndiGo. Once again, my sincerest appreciation for the great work each and every one of you is doing. In my earlier messages, I conveyed we would be rebooting the system Friday, take a significant number of cancellations and start afresh Saturday. That has worked well, by operating some 1500 flights yesterday, as compared to only 700-ish on Friday. Also, we have been able to execute the cancellations at an earlier stage, so customers don’t show up at the airports in case their flights are canceled. It gives us all confidence that we are getting back. Today we realize further improvements of system to reach around 1650 flights. A better OTP, less cancelations and importantly customers are being notified in advance. Today’s OTP is projected around 75%, significantly up from 30% yesterday. Our network coverage has been restored with 137 (out 138) stations operated. Also for our customers, all processes around Refunds, Luggage, Rebooking, etc. are in full swing and we are actually reducing the backlog as we go forward. The last days have been very difficult. For the people in the Operations Control Center, for all the teams supporting them, for our Pilots and Cabin crew with delayed flights, disrupted rosters and so on. Kindly allow me to make a special shout out for our AOCS staff who had to face very tough situation at the airports, especially on December 5th when customers were stranded. I am grateful to everyone! Also, I would like to highlight that we are receiving, and do much appreciate the support from the aviation ecosystem in India – government, DGCA, CISF, BCAS and airports. All of us, and I personally, feel the pain of our customers, are deeply apologetic and addressing their needs, which is and will remain our topmost priority. We are grateful for their support and appreciation, as we also see and receive heartwarming messages from customers on the hard work our colleagues are doing in many places on board and on the ground.
