This is what extremist ethnonationalism sounds like. Palestinian identity does not disappear because Melanie Phillips says it does. The International Court of Justice explicitly recognises the Palestinian people and their inalienable right to self determination. It also states that Israel is not entitled to sovereignty over the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967 simply because it occupies it. Jews have profound historical ties to the land. Palestinians do too. History does not give either people an exclusive deed to every inch of it. Claiming that one ethnic or national group alone has rights to the entire land, while another people simply does not exist, is not history. It is ideological erasure. Islamist extremism is dangerous when it denies Jews their rights and national existence. Extreme Zionism is dangerous when it applies the same logic to Palestinians. You do not defeat one form of supremacism by adopting another.
