In Australia, it's paper and pencil. Compulsory voting (hefty fine for not voting). ID must be shown and name crossed off to ensure only one vote per citizen. If one doesn't want to vote, they can make a donkey vote, but they must show up and go through the process. Makes sense

Dominion voting machines in Otero County, New Mexico, have the ability to not just read a ballot, but mark a ballot as well. The more concerning discovery was that the machine was found to be specifically programmed to "mark" a ballot selection box to mimic a human, not staying within the lines, programmed to literally be "sloppy" and not neatly fill in the bubble, in order to disguise that the machine was marking the ballot, instead of the voter. Remote access was also discovered, along with multiple ports on the machines for ethernet internet and USB access along with software designed to purposely keep the voting machine screen "asleep" or "off" when the machine is being remotely accessed from an off-site location to alter votes without anyone at the physical voting machine location ever knowing it was even happening. The only reason you would ever purposely program the machine to disguise that a machine is filling in a selection on a ballot over a person is if you were going to commit fraud on a massive scale. The device also ejects and re-inserts ballots for vote verification, a step Jeffery Lendberg, and David Clements stated could enable fraud. Some reversal rates reached up to 20% in certain states, which is more than enough to change the outcome of an election.

But now, once a voter makes their selections, they get a printout of their ballot to review before submitting it through the new tabulators. With the straight-party voting and a programming issue, that’s again affected the machines nationwide.” Benson then said she was "unhappy" to learn that the voting machines actually contained flaws. “I think all of us who used Dominion machines were unhappy to learn about this during the testing period and as early voting began, so we’re working with Dominion to seek accountability on that front, and also are working with our clerks to ensure voters are aware of this programming issue that will require them to ensure they are voting every section on the ballot,” she added. According to WLNS, if a VAT (Voter Assist Terminal) user selects a straight-party vote and then chooses to split their ticket, they will receive an error message. However, they will still have the opportunity to correct the error and cast their ballot. This issue does not impact which candidates or issues a voter selects, but it may cause an inconvenience for VAT users who vote split-ticket. The Department of State has indicated that the issue cannot be resolved before Election Day next week, though a fix is planned for future elections. Denied my ballot on the first day of early voting. Here’s what transpired. When I went to my normal voting precinct, I was told I was not in the system. (On 02/02/2026 I had updated my license online, making sure to click “Register to vote or update your voter registration.”) I was told I would have to leave and return once I had spoken to the Voter Registrar once they found it. A few hours later, Lisa contacted me and said, “DPS did the pull on your application and it was determined you checked the box NO on the Register to vote or update your voter registration question.” I replied, “No ma’am, that’s not true. I have my receipt and it clearly says I checked yes.” She said, “Send it to me and we’ll get it updated. But in the meantime, go do a provisional ballot so we can rectify it later and you still get to vote.” (For those of you who don’t know provisional ballots may or may not count and i wanted to be sure to cast my vote and it count in this runoff election) I quickly drove back to my voting precinct at 4pm and started filling out the paperwork when Lisa called back and said, “I’m sorry, you’ll have to fill out a limited ballot… please stop filling out the provisional as I cannot guarantee it will be counted… that way your limited ballot will count. Denied my ballot on the first day of early voting. Here’s what transpired. When I went to my normal voting precinct, I was told I was not in the system. (On 02/02/2026 I had updated my license online, making sure to click “Register to vote or update your voter registration.”) I was told I would have to leave and return once I had spoken to the Voter Registrar once they found it. A few hours later, Lisa contacted me and said, “DPS did the pull on your application and it was determined you checked the box NO on the Register to vote or update your voter registration question.” I replied, “No ma’am, that’s not true. I have my receipt and it clearly says I checked yes.” She said, “Send it to me and we’ll get it updated. But in the meantime, go do a provisional ballot so we can rectify it later and you still get to vote.” (For those of you who don’t know provisional ballots may or may not count and i wanted to be sure to cast my vote and it count in this runoff election) I quickly drove back to my voting precinct at 4pm and started filling out the paperwork when Lisa called back and said, “I’m sorry, you’ll have to fill out a limited ballot… please stop filling out the provisional as I cannot guarantee it will be counted… that way your limited ballot will count. Most Californians know that Newsom is a liar and has trashed the state. If Prop 50 passes it's only because we all didn't get out & vote NO in numbers too big to rig. They are counting on you not knowing any of this: Vote as early as possible by mail or in-person. Track your ballot to make sure it's counted at BallotTrax .net. Fix any problems with your ballot by calling your county elections office. Approximately 50% of all ballots put aside in cure pile to be fixed never get fixed and counted. If you mail your ballot on Nov 4 at the post office, go inside and insist they postmark it 11/4 in front of you. Do not drop it in USPS box even if it is before collection time. Nov 2024 election in CA had 33K votes not counted as the postmark was after election day. USPS has a Biden-era rule allowing them to postmark drop box mail the next day and that is what will happen to your mailed ballot if you don't take it inside to get postmarked in your presence.
