Bürgenstock, Switzerland: 21 June 2026. Mr. Ignazio Cassis, Vice President and Foreign Minister of Switzerland called on the Prime Minister of Pakistan on the side lines of the ongoing technical level talks between USA and Iran at Burgenstock, Switzerland. The Swiss Foreign Minister appreciated the mediation role played by Pakistan that steered the negotiation process leading to the signing of the Islamabad MoU between Iran and United States. He also expressed their willingness to contribute and assist the follow up process. The Prime Minister thanked the Swiss side and affirmed that successful implementation of Islamabad MoU will lead to regional peace and global economic stability. On his part the Prime Minster appreciated the sustained Swiss investment in Pakistan and hoped that Swiss companies would further enhance their investments in Pakistan. He also offered Pakistan’s assistance of highly skilled IT/cyber security experts to fulfil the growing demand of Switzerland in these sectors. #ISPR Rawalpindi, 4 March, 2026 Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, #COAS & CDF of #Pakistan visited Wana in South Waziristan to review the prevailing security situation and operational preparedness along the Western border. Field Marshal laid a floral wreath at the Shuhada Monument to pay homage to the martyrs who rendered supreme sacrifices in defence of the motherland. The Field Marshal offered Fateha and reaffirmed that the sacrifices of Shuhada remain the cornerstone of Pakistan’s security and resilience. During the visit, the Field Marshal was given a comprehensive briefing on the security environment, ongoing intelligence-based operations and measures in place for border management. The Field Marshal was briefed in detail regarding ongoing Operation Ghazab lil Haq and developments along Pakistan–Afghanistan border. Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir interacted with the officers and troops deployed in forward areas, commending their unwavering professionalism, operational vigilance, and high morale during the ongoing skirmishes. He lauded their steadfast commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty and ensuring peace and stability in the region. The Field Marshal emphasised that use of Afghan soil by Fitna al Khawarij and Fitna al Hindustan for acts of terrorism against Pakistan was unacceptable and all necessary measures would be taken to neutralize the threat emanating from across the border. He lauded the role of premier institutions like NDU in nurturing future military-civil leadership capable of mitigating hybrid, conventional and sub-conventional threats with foresight, confidence and resolve. The Field Marshal also highlighted that Pakistan Armed Forces were recalibrating their employment and development strategies in line with the evolved character of warfare. The Field Marshal remarked that the Armed Forces remain fully cognizant of state-sponsored attempts by hostile intelligence agencies to destabilize Pakistan. Efforts of such proxies and networks, who operate under the tutelage of hostile intelligence agencies are futile and will not be allowed to undermine Pakistan’s internal security and economic prosperity. There is more than enough to criticise about Donald Trump without misquoting him. In this instance, he did not say that the Prime Minister of Pakistan would have died without his involvement. He said that ‘35 million people’ would have died, and that this was conveyed to him by the Pakistani Prime Minister. That is very different from how many mainstream Indian journalists and reporters are presenting it, which misstates what was actually said. One may question the accuracy, the exaggeration, or the framing of what was said. However, altering the wording entirely only weakens legitimate criticism. Disagreement does not justify inaccuracy. If we want higher standards in public life, we must also apply them in our own reporting and commentary, even when the subject is someone we strongly disagree with.

President Trump’s full-throated and categorical support for Pakistan in its war with Afghanistan is another setback for Indian 'huglomacy.' He has once again gone out of his way to praise the man whose inflammatory remarks provided the backdrop to the terrorist attacks in Pahalgam on April 22nd, 2025 that were orchestrated by Pakistan. Our economic diplomacy with the US has failed badly, as evinced by Mr. Modi suddenly surrendering to a clearly one-sided trade deal in which India has made firm pledges especially to import from American farmers, while the US has made vague commitments to allow for greater exports from India. Not only that, days after the agreement, the US imposed a 125.87% import duty on solar modules from India. Our strategic diplomacy has received repeated blows by President Trump repeatedly cozying up to the Pakistani establishment and reverting to the hyphenation of India and Pakistan. The Prime Minister may, through his means, manage to get awards. But the fact is that the self-declared Vishwaguru has been exposed and the world, especially the US, has got his measure.
