The communication of climate change has totally failed. Just talking to my friend for whom the penny has only just dropped this evening and is now panicking, understandably. It’s all focused on degrees of warming which means literally nothing to 99% of the public. It needs to be laid out what that actually means, and not just heat waves or more rain, which also doesn’t sound impactful. The war, global financial collapse, disease, hyper violence and mass death needs laying out explicitly. This constant emphasis on not overwhelming or frightening people has been one of the biggest mistakes in human history. Why would you leave a burning house if someone just gently told you it might be nicer outside? What you do is SCREAM FIRE at the top of your lungs and drag them out if needs be.

I’ve saved this clip from 2024. Maybe you’re a parent that needs to hear it now and maybe you’re a parent that needs to bookmark it for later to come back to. Either way if you have watched your child sacrifice the norms to not be of the norm and watched them fall short you can relate. For those that aren’t at this level yet- remember every match/game/point is big to them in moment and I think we minimize that thinking we are helping them when in reality we are protecting our own self from the hurt we feel when our child is hurting. Struggle and failure are life’s biggest teaching tools. They are also some of the most painful to go through, but more so to watch someone you love go through. I hope this helps some parents- now or in the future or even those parents of kids at the younger ages. Hopefully you focus on building healthy relationships with your kids over their win loss record. Hopefully you are praising them not only in their successes, but also in their failures of trying so they continue to just that- try.

Rahul Vohra on how to measure product/market fit Rahul Vohra is the founder and CEO of Superhuman. He was looking for a metric to measure product/market fit so that he and his team could optimize, and he came across the following methodology from Sean Ellis: Simply ask your users: “How would you feel if you could no longer use the product?” with three options: (1) not disappointed, (2) somewhat disappointed, or (3) very disappointed. It turns out that the benchmark for product/market fit across hundreds of venture-backed startups is 40% of respondents saying “very disappointed”. And as Rahul puts it: “If more than 40% of your users would be very disappointed without your product, then you should focus on growing your company. If less than 40% of your users would be very disappointed without your product, then you’ll probably struggle to grow.” 40% may not sound like a lot, but it’s an incredibly hard benchmark to beat. For example, Slack posed this to 731 customers early in the company’s history, and 51% said they would be very disappointed without Slack. One might expect a terrific product like Slack to have a score of 60-80%, but that wasn’t the case. Rahul’s explanation of why the response options are focused on disappointment rather than happiness is interesting too: “I think the reason behind that is that if you ask people how they feel about a product and you give them positive potential responses, I think it invites more bias. People are more likely to be polite. And it also doesn’t get to the heart of the matter which is: how necessary has your product become in people’s lives? When I was 8 years old, my favorite thing in the world was making mixtapes for my Walkman from my big sister’s CDs. That evolved into Lego stop-motion videos, and later, I fell down the rabbit hole of editing Naruto anime clips to Evanescence & Linkin Park beats. Looking back, it’s obvious: Sound and Video were always the main drivers in my life. I think that obsession also led me to my true love: Motion Design. A huge shoutout to Kevin who showed me +10 years ago the world of Motion Design. And honestly, look at where we are now. Who would have thought that there would be such a massive hype around Motion Design and UI promo videos? From giants like Airbnb to the new generation of creators like sutoxoriginals. The visual standard in 2026 is insane. But there was always one part of the process that felt like a grind to me: Sound Design. I love the result, but I hated the process. I was spending 4-5 hours per project just searching for the right sound effects. "Key typing effect" "Mouse click" "Subtle Whoosh" and so on.. So, I decided to fix it. I sat down with a Dev friend and we spent the last few weekends building a native AI tool right inside After Effects. The concept is simple: SoundDesigner AI watches your video. It understands the vibe and exactly what’s happening and when its happening. It sees a clock ticking or a text appearing, and it generates the perfect sound for it in seconds, synced to the action in your timeline. I’ve been using it on my own projects for a few days now, and it’s wild. My sound design workflow went actually from 5 hours to 20 minutes. It’s shocking because it’s going to play out this way because this scenario at this point in the season helps nobody. I’m not blaming BA, I’m not blaming the 49ers, but I think BA coming back and doing his best to play as well as he can helps the 49ers and it helps Brandon Aiyuk. I think the position of Brandon Aiyuk not playing anymore this season doesn’t help anybody. If BA doesn’t play this season and he gets cut at the end of the year, that does nothing to help anybody. I think if he doesn’t play, that’s the most likely scenario, but I just don’t understand why that would be the case. Why you would make the decision as a player? Everybody has their own reasons for doing things, but if you’re a player and you want out, your interests are aligned unfortunately. You doing well helps the team doing well, the team doing well and you doing well, helps everybody. Your baby is born already knowing the sound of your voice and those of close family members. As their hearing develops, babies become acquainted with all kinds of sounds in the womb - from their mother’s heartbeat and digestive rumblings to the muffled (but distinct) sound of her voice. Beginning around the 23rd week of gestation, they also begin taking in sounds from the outside - with research suggesting that newborns can distinguish the sounds and rhythms of their mothers’ native languages and more readily soothe to familiar lullabies to which they were exposed in utero. While fathers and siblings obviously lack the benefit of the internal amplification system associated with mother’s voice - their voices can also become a familiar and comforting sound for baby. It just takes time and exposure. I was so touched by this video of little Jason speaking to his sister in utero. It’s remarkable not only because of the tender way he addresses his unborn sibling, but also because of the compassion he shows for his mother, who is experiencing painful contractions. Jason explains that their mother loves them and even tries to strike a bargain in exchange for her tender handling by the baby. Simply beautiful. Talk to your bump. Read. Sing. It’s not too early. Gang Starr - “Mass Appeal” “Mass Appeal” was a turning point for DJ Premier. I remember the first time I heard “Mass Appeal.” It was on Gang Starr’s 1994 album, ‘Hard to Earn.’ I played this song over and over. Serious repeat! What caught my attention the most was how Premier chopped the sample, and then arranged it in a way that the ends exploded every time the loop turned over. What’s more, at the point where the loop turns, there isn’t a dominate kick, which was typical of most hip hop/rap songs of that period. The absence of the kick on the loop turning point convinced me that Premier was in the midst of a sound change. Having heard his beatwork on ‘Illmatic’ just a couple of months before, I was wondering if his beats would be in the same vein or take a different direction. Two songs into ‘Hard to Earn,’ I knew Premier was going for a new sound. And what tipped me off was his experimentation with his drums. I was paying extra close attention to Premier’s use of the kick drum. Specifically, I was studying the ways in which he was starting to “relax” the punch of his kicks while still coming up with non-conventional drum frameworks. On “Mass Appeal,” it was if Premier had challenged himself to devise a moderately syncopated kick pattern underneath a deceptively simple sample arrangement. If you listen to “Mass Appeal,” pay careful attention to how the end of the sample seems to speed up. Truth is, it doesn’t. By chopping the end of the sample the way he did, and by easing up on the attack (the front-end) of the sample, an otherwise simple 1-bar measure is transformed into something akin to break in a record being “pushed” forward by the DJ. And what makes this all more complex than most people realize is the fact that the tempo — which stays the same throughout — is managed thoroughly by the kick pattern and shuffling hat pattern.

Apple Vision Pro: My Initial Impressions I agree with some others. This is one of the most impressive pieces of tech I’ve ever used, but it's not perfect. The Good: • The eye tracking and hand gestures are simply incredible. The accuracy is like 99%. It’s quite intuitive and feels very natural. You can put your hands almost anywhere and it'll sense them. • I’m not exaggerating when I say Apple’s immersive videos made for the Vision Pro literally make you feel like you’re there in person. I felt like I was literally in the room with Alicia Keys while she sang, or traversing 3,000 feet above Norway’s breathtaking fjords while walking on a rope. My only complaint is that while Apple Immersive Videos are 180-degree 3D 8K recordings, they are still a little blurry. • You can use the Vision Pro while lying down in bed in complete darkness and the hand gestures will still work just fine (just like FaceID does in the dark). • In 2013 Apple introduced TouchID. In 2017 FaceID. With Vision Pro, Apple has introduced OpticID. It scans your iris and unlocks your Vision Pro when you put it on. It’s incredibly quick and accurate. And like FaceID, it's secure. It's what you will use to pay for things on the device as well. • I didn’t experience any vertigo, dizziness, etc while using the device. • I'm a bit of a display nerd. For the first time outside of a theatre, Avatar The Way of Water feels true to the directors creative intent. High frame rate (HFR) wasn’t possible in any other device. The 3D is exactly like the theatre. I went to a dolby cinema to watch it originally, and the Vision Pro gets it about as close to a theatre video quality experience as you can get. • The sound quality is really good. The spacial audio is very convincing. • The Vision Pro is heavy, but I found myself not caring all that much if i used the dual loop headband. • I was skeptical of the productivity side of the Vision pro, but wow does the mac virtual display work insanely well. You can easily edit videos or browse the web. • You can complain about plenty of things, but built quality is not one of them. It's really good and solid. The device feels very dense. • Neck strain was not an issue • I watched John Wick in one of the immersive environments, and the movie was reflecting onto the water perfectly. It’s was incredible. I'm not joking when i saw it literally felt like I was watching a movie on a 4K HDR screen in then middle of the wilderness. • Battery life is fine most of the time. The Not So Good: • The app ecosystem just isn’t there yet, which is understandable. That will happen over time, but currently there are only 600 apps built for the Vision. For developer, It doesn't make sense to make a custom Vision Pro app when there are only ~200k users in the ecosystem. • The field of view is kinda of small, which is disappointing, and sometimes a little distracting. It's not terrible, but I wish the FOV was bigger. • The passthrough video is dissapointinly low quality, though it’s still better than anything else on the market. You can’t read your small text on your phone. Colors are muted, and it's a little jittery. Future versions will be better no doubt. • It is sort of an isolating device. I almost guarantee you future versions of the Vision Pro will be able to connect with one another so two people can be looking at the same virtual safari window, movie, etc. • Price: It's expensive. • As I said above, while heavy, the weight of the VP was not an issue for me, but that doesn't mean I don't want it to be lighter. It does press against your face pretty hard, which can cause minor cheek area fatigue. Future versions will no doubt be lighter. Final Thoughts: Going back to my Mac felt weird. It suddenly felt like a technology of the past. If you have the money and want to be an early adopter, you’ll be happy with the Vision Pro. But I have to say, the second or third generation of this device, I think, will be better and cheaper, so it’s probably worth waiting for that. While it’s one of the greatest pieces of tech I’ve ever tried, I can’t see myself using this in my daily life yet, and for $3,500, I should be able to envision that. I'm going to give it a few more days, but I'll likely be returning it. The app ecosystem needs to improve and expand a lot. That's ultimately what will make or break this thing's success. Apple knocked it out of the park engineering this thing. It's mind blowing, but if i'm already mind blown, Imagine how good future versions will be.

This isn’t even like normal “drug withdrawal” where you experience waves and windows of relief—it is a 24/7 every second of every day where you get zero relief from it. It’s also one of the leading causes of iatrogenic suicide, where for me, I simply couldn’t take it anymore and was trying to make it stop, It’s not a reflection of a mental illness, it’s a result of a napalm being poured onto your nervous system.
