The incident is reported to have taken place on 02 April 2026 at the Volksrust Police Station in Mpumalanga. A 15 year old boy was hired to shovel part of a driveway for a local business. He spent hours doing it with a shovel. When it was time to pay up, the worker just offered him a plate of food instead of the $100 that they originally agreed upon. It wasn’t until the video was posted on social media and the owner received massive backlash from the community that he spoke out and claimed it was an employee that did it and offered to pay the boy. If this is true, should the person who did it be fired, or is he just saving face at this point?

The SAPS has noted with concern the derogatory and tribalistic slurs captured in a recording outside a police station, in which a woman admonished a SAPS spokesperson for not communicating with her in isiZulu and referred to him as a “kwerekwere” which is a deeply offensive term used to label someone as a foreigner. Colonel Robert Netshiunda was born and raised in Limpopo, which is one of South Africa’s nine provinces. His home language is Tshivenda, one of the country’s twelve official languages. Colonel Robert Netshiunda was born and raised in Limpopo, which is one of South Africa’s nine provinces. His home language is Tshivenda, one of the country’s twelve official languages. His presence in KwaZulu-Natal reflects the diversity and unity that define the SAPS. The SAPS takes this opportunity to remind communities that discrimination against any individual based on culture, language, or race is unacceptable and undermines the constitutional values upon which our democracy is founded. The province of KwaZulu-Natal is home not only to isiZulu-speaking communities but to people from diverse racial, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds. SAPS actively promotes integration, mutual respect, and inclusivity among all communities and within its own ranks. It is both unfair and disappointing for any member of the public to display such behaviour towards a police officer who is highly qualified and dedicated to serving and protecting all who live in this country. This is a betrayal of the highest order, and there can be no more excuses those responsible must be held fully accountable. The DA therefore calls on the relevant law enforcement authorities to move swiftly. If the evidence supports the allegations emerging before the Commission, Lt Gen Molefe Fani must be arrested and criminally charged alongside every individual involved in this corrupt network. Today's evidence paints an alarming picture of how individuals were allegedly communicating with Fani while he was still serving within Supply Chain Management at National Treasury.
