A little fact that some folks may not know about the song American Woman. It was originally sung by the band The Guess Who and was covered in 1999 by Lenny Kravitz. Many may not be aware that writers for the song and original performers of it happened to be Canadian. The single was released in March of 1970, making it 66 years old! Another fun fact about the song - it was actually written on the fly, on stage, and could have been lost forever had it not been for a teenager in the audience who was taping the live show bootlegging the show.

Yesterday, there was an ambush in the Kangpokpi district, Manipur, which led to the death of 3 church leaders belonging to a tribal community called the Thadou community, and 5 people were injured. In the evening around 6:30 PM, another incident of violence occurred in the Noney district, where a man belonging to a minority tribe, the Chiru tribe, was also killed. In both cases, it is reported that the attacks were carried out by unidentified armed men. These tragic incidents are part of the continuing lawlessness in the state of Manipur. Unfortunately, the Government of India has not taken sufficient interest since the very beginning. We have been insisting that if the government had acted in time, this situation could have been stopped long ago. : A. Bimol Akoijam ji

He also has no Champion he could call upon because his retinue in the capitol have all been killed and the rest is fighting a war with Robb. Also Cersei holds Sansa as a hostage, one of the primary reasons why he decided to confess was so that Sansa would not be harmed. Even if he would have won he would not have been free from the dungeons, only the accusations of being a traitor. He would still have been held a hostage as long as Robb was marching with his army. Any deal to free him would not have happened until Robb captures Jaime or any equally important hostage but even so with Tywin in command that is unlikely to happen. Lastly you can't blame Ned for feeling cynical over trials by combat. The last Stark to demand a trial by combat in Kings Landing was his father, Rickard Stark. And he was burned alive by the mad king.

In the last couple of weeks, there has been a lot of talk about who is and who should be in charge of the “Unified Command” that looks after the law and order as well as security in the state of Manipur. This issue is being raised 16 months after the crisis began in May 2023! But barely a week after Mr Kuldiep Singh was appointed in May, 2023 as the Chairman of the Unified Headquarters/Command, I had flagged off the issue of Article 355 to Karan Thapar. I had told him about the subversion of the federal structure by the Modi led Govt. of India through a de facto and illegal act of exercising power over the state government. And that this subversion has rendered Shri Biren’s government as a “proxy government” and “a façade”. Not only that, I have also hinted about the “game” of keeping “Biren as the enemy” to help perpetuate the conflict and that if he were to be removed, that “game (would be) gone” as well! That the violent crisis which should have been brought under control in a couple of weeks has not happened so far points to that “game”. Since this interview (9 June, 2023), I have consistently raised this issue on many occasions, by asking “who’s in charge of the law and order” in Manipur, and reminding that the Govt of Manipur is a “proxy” for the Govt of India. And that Shri Biren is a “willing scapegoat”, someone who has protected and shielded Modi-Shah from any criticism or responsibility pertaining to this terrible tragedy in Manipur. In fact, he has defended the duo openly and unabashedly in many instances! Fact is, as I have insisted throughout the crisis so far, the “inaction of the GoI” itself is an “action” that has aggravated and prolonged the crisis, and therefore it must take the major responsibility.

Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias: The Patriots in Karpathos were obviously not there to confront the Turkish threat. The reason for moving the Patriots to Karpathos — and also to Didymoteicho to cover Bulgaria — had to do with the threat of missiles from Iran. There have been no missile launches from Iran in the last six weeks or more. Therefore, there is no operational reason for their exposure at that specific location. Many times I have warned about the danger of ‘Turk-centric thinking.’ That is, interpreting everything, explaining everything, or referring everything to issues concerning our relations with Türkiye. That is not always the case. If Patriots were needed to confront the Turkish threat, then obviously, over all these years we have had them, some Greek government or General Staff would have placed them on some island in the eastern Aegean long ago. The fact that they were never placed there proves the obvious: they are not for that job.
