I remember about a year ago when I first started speaking out about what is happening to our country. I had a British born Muslim in my inbox threatening to “cut my head off like Lee Rigby”. Saying the usual things I often see them say: “We have infiltrated every level of your society from law, education to politics”. “I was born here and we’re going nowhere”. “This is our country now”. “Where are your big hard football hooligans now?” I can remember feeling truly defeated because I knew he was right. Radar shows rates over 2" per hour moving into the area soon. Let's just hope our camera doesn't get completely snow covered, so we can continue to enjoy heavy snow falling! Today, we visited the Minab school in southern Iran, where US forces massacred 168 students and teachers at the outset of the Trump-Netanyahu war of aggression on Iran. About ten minutes after we left the Minab school today, it was hit with a drone strike. (The aftermath of that strike was captured in this video). Yesterday, we were in the Iranian city of Bushehr, which lies on the Persian Gulf to the north of Minab. Shortly after we left our hotel in Bushehr, there was an airstrike on a target directly across the street from our hotel. While we were in Bushehr, we visited a marine terminal that had sustained damage in airstrikes conducted earlier this month. Shortly after we left the marine terminal, it too was hit with an airstrike. Another site that we visited in Bushehr yesterday was also hit with an airstrike shortly after we left it. Now all of this could be random. On the other hand, it may be that U.S.-Israeli forces are sending us a message. If in fact they are sending us a message, we have a message for them. Hey everyone! Before we play our first match, I’d like to share a bit about our offseason. This is one of the most important times of the year for any team, and we made sure to make the most of it. We started tryouts with only 8 days of rest after the previous season ended. We didn’t waste a second. We wanted to be ready, and to do so, we tested between 30 and 35 players, becoming the team that conducted the most tryouts. We gave opportunities to everyone: players with previous experience, those without, T2 players, ranked grinders… If we saw potential, we opened the doors. Our goal was clear from the start: find young grinders hungry to compete and eager to learn. We were looking for talent we could develop and take to the top here at GIANTX. This reflects our philosophy: not just signing stars but building them, betting on the future, and nurturing young talent. I also want to give a massive shoutout to GX Cloud and Liquid purp0 , who worked tirelessly to make this offseason a success. Thanks to their efforts, we were able to secure not only the best players in terms of skill but also those who align perfectly in terms of synergy and personal values. I think a big mistake is believing that if something is here, we should be able to see it. Right? The lights in the sky and the pilots or the gods or whatever they are? I think we assume out of arrogance and ego. An insect can crawl across your hand and never understand that you are a whole entire being. It only experiences pressure, heat, vibration, and movement. A fingertip appears. A shadow passes. The insect never sees the body attached to it. The insect does not have access to the full image. Ever. I think our situation may be exactly the same. Whatever people call the phenomenon, nonhuman intelligence, gods, or something else entirely, may be present in full while we only register a portion of it. We notice effects, not the actual being. Changes in perception. Anomalies. We expect a face when all we are capable of sensing is the fingertip. Let me explain. Reports are always partial and strange. Lights, shapes, impressions, symbols, missing time, pressure, fear, calm. None of it ever shows us a full being, or the real craft; because our senses are not built to assemble it. Just like the ant cannot assemble a human from a few sensations. Now that doesn't mean what we are seeing is fake. It means the insect’s world is smaller than the thing interacting with it. I get sick of people saying there is no there there, I think they are making the same mistake the insect would make. Our reality is likely a thin slice of what actually exists. We move through a world full of forces and intelligences that exceed our resolution. We are not seeing nothing. We are seeing effects. And effects are often the only honest proof a limited observer ever gets.

Disappointed with your ICLR paper being rejected? Ten years ago today, Sergey and I finished training some of the first end-to-end neutral nets for robot control 🤖 We submitted the paper to RSS on January 23, 2015. It was rejected for being "incremental" and "unlikely to have much impact" Our resubmission to NeurIPS was also rejected It now has >4,000 citations (and more importantly, end-to-end training is widely accepted!) It's also cool to think about what's changed and what's the same -- - The network was 92k parameters and trained on ~15 minutes of data - The code was a combination of matlab, caffe, ROS, a custom CUDA kernel for speed, and a low-level 20 Hz controller in C++, all talking to each other. ROS+matlab was as bad as it sounds. - We pre-trained the encoder and did inference off-board on a workstation with a larger GPU. - We were paranoid about varying lighting messing up the network, so we did all the experiments after sunset (so long nights running experiments on the robot past 3 am) Now, we have manipulation policies that are far more dextrous, far more generalizable, and maybe on the cusp of breaking into the real world. :) (the paper:
