During WWII, Project Pigeon, led by psychologist B.F. Skinner, aimed to use trained pigeons to guide missiles. Pigeons were conditioned to peck at a target image on a screen, steering the missile by tilting the screen to adjust its flight path. Despite successful tests, the project was scrapped in favor of electronic guidance systems by 1953.
