Men like him should be in leadership. Igbo-speaking people across Nigeria should unite. If you identify as Delta Igbo, why not remove the Delta and simply identify as Igbo? The SE is small and landlocked, so unity among all Igbo people is essential for greater strength/progress

I'm all for Igbo unity, specifically the emergence of a new political leadership platform for Ndigbo, it's needful and mandatory at this stage, especially with the growing hostile Nigerian political environment. Having said that, Ndigbo can't keep on making the same mistakes, falling for the same tricks and shortchanging themselves, in favour of a people whose default response anything Igbo is very deliberate and carefully worded public disrespect. How many times are Ndigbo going to endure or tolerate unprovoked shows of shame by so-called fellow Igbo speaking peoples before they respect themselves? How many times are Ndigbo going to be publicly disrespected in the most egregious manner before they call a spade a spade? How many times are Ndigbo going to acknowledge and accept the game of identity politics that some people have massively invested in, over generations, and recognize the same patterns that keep playing out over and over again? We can't keep trying over and over again to embrace people whose publicly declared agenda is not to be identified with us. We can't keep trying to reconcile with those whose generational sense of pride and identity is built around identity crisis and denigration of anything Igbo. They don't even respect themselves enough to stop insulting their own intelligence and have some pride in their own history and identity, so why should we bear that burden for them? I'm very sure that any other ethnic group in this country won't take half of the unprovoked nonsense, insults, abuse and political games coming from these quarters. The sheer depth of the very public display of stupidity masquerading as identity crisis, political games and rewriting of history can no longer be excused or explained away. Ethnic unity must have a basis that's mutually acceptable, mutually beneficial and mutually respectful to the parties involved. These people, the overwhelming majority of them, have not demonstrated that this so-called Igbo unity is beneficial, acceptable, agreeable or pleasing to them. What these people and their politicians, traditional rulers and elders have done and said so far, publicly and unprovoked, cannot be the basis for building anything that can have the word unity attached to it, that would be very silly. Dignity and self-respect demands that one must firstly honor himself before demanding respect and dignity from others. Ndigbo appear to be so emotional especially when matters of serious political significance are at play, just like this one now playing out. These people and their leaders have demonstrated that they have no qualms with and won't get emotional when it comes to putting Ndigbo down, working against Igbo interests or shutting down any shows of political, ethnic or historical solidarity with Ndigbo. Association cannot be by force or compulsion. We have way bigger fish to fry in this Nigerian project, and I don't think we should be burdening ourselves with matters and peoples who are more than likely to create rifts, rancour and political disaffection.
