The court has recognised both Akosua Serwaa and Odo Broni as wives of the late Daddy Lumba and has asked both wives to prepare the necessary widow rites, but this man says lailai. He will deal with the matter spiritually — and if they dare step foot in Kumasi for the rites, the rest will be history.

The talk about wives submitting to husbands was quite telling. 1) Alex says they have the healthy, biblical version of submission, as opposed to those in the trad movement who have a warped, distorted view of it. 2) Allie mentions criticism she has received that she rejects the traditional view of marriage and family. She actually does reject them, since she’s the breadwinner for her family, works outside the home, and her husband is her employee (agent). 3) Allie counters this by saying that she affirms biblical marriage as well as the exhortations to wives and husbands in Ephesians 5. 4) Allie claims that “submission” is a scary word for women. Gosh, I wonder why that is? Maybe it’s the feminism pushed by people like her. 5) Alex immediately pivots to the husband’s responsibility, that their duty (which is unconditional) is also a lot on their shoulders. Allie affirms this sacrificial love as being counter-cultural in the first century. Neither gal has even attempted to address what submission means for a wife. 6) Finally, Allie explains what submission does NOT mean. It does not imply that husbands should not consult their wives.
