An ICE agent was struck by a suspect's vehicle during an attempted arrest in New Jersey, and then opened fire as the driver sped away. The confrontation unfolded along Route 72 in Manahawkin shortly as federal immigration agents moved in to take a suspect into custody. Authorities say the vehicle was hit by gunfire, but the suspect managed to escape and remains on the run. Police say they were not involved in the ICE operation and there is currently no known threat to the public.

The Moldovan Intelligence and Security Service reported that the operation was coordinated by a handler who presented himself as an officer of a Russian special service under the alias "Bes."
