FAIRFORD SUSPECTS LINED UP SHIRTLESS A Whelford resident woke to shouting and watched officers line up five men with their shirts off, then remove their shoes and socks and pat them down. Soldiers now guard RAF Lakenheath's gates too. Under the Terrorism Act, police can hold the five for up to 14 days without charge. Unconfirmed: why their shirts came off. Some reports say officers feared explosive belts. Police handled them like men who could be wearing bombs.
