XANADU 1980 is an enigma. It's a horrible film, known as one of the worst ever made, yet it has great songs, and great scenes in it, including Don Bluth animation, and the final performance by Gene Kelly. And of course Olivia Newton-John bless her.

#ReggaeCorner A beautiful video of the sons of Bob Marley and his bassist Aston “Family Man” Barrett, listening and being fascinated as they break down the multitrack recording of Jamming by Bob Marley and The Wailers from the 1977 Exodus album. Ziggy Marley and Aston Barrett Jr come from pure reggae royalty. Aston’s father, also called Aston but popularly known as Family Man (he had 52 children), was the leader of Bob Marley’s band, The Wailers. His brother Carlton was the Wailers’ drummer, renowned for perfecting and popularising the one drop rhythm drumming style. Family Man was also the music arranger, director and bassist for Bob Marley and The Wailers. In this video, Ziggy and Aston Jr were listening to the piano played by Tyrone Downie and Bob’s rhythm chop on Jamming. The Wailers band has changed members over the last four decades. It is now led by Aston Jr, who, like his father, also plays bass guitar. Sadly, Family Man and his brother are now late, Tyrone Downie is also dead, and Bob was the first to pass on in 1981. Undoubtedly, Bob Marley and the Barrett brothers eminently took reggae to the world, making it truly international, and their recorded music remains the cornerstone of reggae music today. When you say reggae, the first thing that comes to mind is Bob Marley, but behind this great musician, who became the first Third World superstar, was the sound and rhythm section of the Barrett brothers. They were important, or as they say in Jamaica, crucial to the distinctive sound and rhythm of Bob Marley and The Wailers. The recorded music they created together remains foundational to reggae music today. Exodus was named Time Magazine’s album of the twentieth century. The music bible magazine the Rolling Stone named Exodus on their greatest albums of all time lists. Interestingly, Exodus was recorded in London when Bob Marley and the Wailers were in forced exile after a failed assassination attempt on Bob by a political gang in 1975. Don Taylor, Bob’s manager took in the bullets meant for Bob Marley, fortunately they both survived. Bob’s wife, Rita was also hit by a bullet but survived. The assassination was meant to stop the Smile Jamaica concert which Bob Marley planned to bring unity among warring political gangs and stop the blood shed taking place at the time. He still went ahead and played the concert before going into exile. Bob Marley did however return to Jamaica in 1978 and gave one of the most memorable electric performances in living memory when he played at Jamaica’s National stadium at the One Love Peace Concert. I have looped in that bit on this video. He famously brought Prime Minister Michael Manley of the PNP and Opposition Leader Edward Seaga of the JLP on stage and joined their hands together during the performance of Jamming. It was characterised as a re-enactment of Jesus Christ between the two thieves 🤣🤣🤣 Damn, I could go on, this man is the true embodiment of a LEGEND!!! Yet he only died at 36, a short but great life.

Again proving there's nothing different about reform It's just a more extreme version of the same sleazy politics, backed by the same billionaires working in the interests of the billionaires! They had the opportunity to support ordinary people but instead chose to side with the 1%. It's time for change, it's time for politicians to put ordinary working people at the front and centre of political decisions.

Ray J claims Raffles was always with Michael Jackson but yet I only found one entire picture of them together on the internet 🧐 Could Ray J and Raffles have also played a role in the death of Michael as well like they allegedly did Whitney and Bobbi???
