It’s hard to explain the medical stuff here but as simply put as possible- Brix is on antivirals for FIP- though he doesn’t present correctly for it. Brix is going for an echocardiogram tomorrow for his heart as congenital heart disease is possible. He is still a mystery, but he’s so much better.

One of the hardest things about FIP is that it doesn’t wave a giant red flag saying, “Here I am!” The symptoms can be subtle at first and often look like dozens of other illnesses. Also Brix didn’t have ALL of the symptoms. For Brix, it started with things that just didn’t seem like him. That’s what makes FIP so difficult. Some of the signs veterinarians look for include: Loss of appetite Weight loss Low energy or sleeping much more than normal A fever that won’t go away A swollen belly from fluid buildup (wet FIP) Trouble walking, wobbliness, tremors, or seizures (neurological FIP) Eye inflammation or vision changes (ocular FIP) Vets use the whole picture—symptoms, bloodwork, imaging, fluid analysis (when present), and ruling out other diseases—to make the diagnosis. Just a few years ago, an FIP diagnosis was almost always heartbreaking. Today, thanks to antiviral treatments, many cats are doing something that once seemed impossible, they survive. So far Brix is doing great. ❤️

We stopped in at the hospital late last night before bed to see Brix and chat with the Doctor. Dr. Bruce said she was happy with his progress and that she felt he was much better than yesterday. Brix was bright eyed, hungry, and much more comfortable we felt. He was super happy to see us and wanted us to feed him food. We will take the baby steps wins, as Monday morning he was on the cusp of death. Not every pet has a happy outcome being as sick as Brix was and Brix is still sick, we hope that anyone who reads this and had a much different outcome with their pet knows that we feel for you. It’s been a rough couple days, and Brix is still here. Not everyone gets that chance.

Brix lost one of his lives a month ago. Maybe he lost a couple. We never thought our super healthy kitty would nearly die from FIP. It is on us to make sure that the lives he has left are filled to the brim with adventure. ❤️

Brix was rescued from a very sad situation by an amazing local rescue called Paws and Claws. He was then put into foster care until he was old enough to go home with a family. The fact that a kitty like Brix would have had to survive in the situation he was in breaks my heart because it is all too common. Brix doesn’t have to survive in the cold, he has a home that will cherish him forever.

Ginger is living her best life, but ours on the farm was missing something. Brix arrived Friday and slowly we have introduced him to the dogs. Bernoulli was smitten immediately and is now Brix’s shadow. Brix will never replace Ginger in our house, but he does bring back something we missed- and something you all have missed. A soggy cat loved by a giant goober.

Continuation about Bonbon (I think) 🪽: He is 4 years old, but he get sick easily. I’m really worried about him honestly. He was admitted for 3 days. He was shivering, so I took him to the doctor. He doesn't eat, lost weight and can't breathe properly. He's not old yet, right? He's still young, I think. Or not? 4 years old is still young. #beckysangels

Today was a good day for Brix. All his issues improved or stayed the same without deteriorating. The fluid in his body lessened and he is down to 38% O2 from 50%. His heart sounded and look good on scans. Cancer was ruled out. He is feisty and wants out. Every day where things improve is a step in the right direction. As I wrote on Substack, it gives us hope. Hope is good enough for today.

The most interesting thing isn't how much he made, but how: In 9 out of 10 trades, he bought the shares for 0 cents - he got them for free - and after the market settled, he sold them for 100. i.e., almost minimal risk with maximum profit But how is that possible? To be honest, I'm not entirely sure myself.

So, this Correct FM engineer in Enugu passed away a few days ago. According to Radio Guide Nigeria, he was owed nine months’ salary by Correct FM before his deth. Yet, after he died, the station reportedly paid him in full and even added ₦500,000. My question is simple: Why did it have to take his deth for him to receive the money he had already worked for? Nine months is not nine days. That was nine months of someone’s labour, time, dedication and livelihood. It is heartbreaking to think that the money was apparently available to be paid after his deth, but not while he was alive and needed it. I sincerely hope Correct FM is not owing any of its current staff. Pay people while they are alive. They have bills to pay, families to feed and lives to live.

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. Our first Christmas on the farm was very sad as we had our first fatality on the farm. Our beautiful McKinzie colt out of HIGH PITCH had to be euthanized yesterday. He experienced extreme body soreness over the last few days that got progressively worse and was euthanized at the hospital after every attempt was made to relieve his pain. The doctors will perform a necropsy to determine what happened. Our team is heartbroken. We all loved him so much and he was such a happy little guy especially @sarah_resolute and Chelsey Stone Stewart I am sorry to share such bad news, but that is what full transparency is all about.
