Makes no sense why he should be treated differently than any other civilian..unless the reason for his speeding was something to do with the job itself. Like he was rushing to a crime scene or chasing a criminal. Either nobody is above the law, or there can be no law.

Different agencies. This is a “POLICE” car so local city cop. Sheriff is the sheriff of the county. City police leaders are usually appointed by elected city commission boards. Sheriffs are elected usually. Separate chain of commands.
