![One of my exchanges with Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins -- on 🥩 imports: Me: I haven't been able to find an ag group or a Republican lawmaker who is supporting the president's announcement about importing beef to lower prices. Why do this in the face of very widespread criticism? Secretary Brooke Rollins: "The president made the decision that, for a short 90 days, there's a lot of ground beef -- this is just ground beef -- there's a lot of ground beef that's sitting in other countries that would potentially help serve Americans, especially lower-income Americans who really lean into -- 'lean into' -- the lean ground beef. And so this is a very short-term fix from the president's perspective, that he believed necessary to get lower cost beef onto American plates." Me: Where is the U.S. importing this beef from? Secretary Brooke Rollins: "I will be very transparent in that is over at [the office of] U.S. Trade Rep. I am actually not part of any of those conversations, so I am not sure what that looks like.
