Justin Thomas is playing the Charles Schwab Challenge this week for the first time in 4 years. Ahead of the event, he said he builds his schedule around what best prepares him for the majors and it may change year to year: “Everybody's different. I would say the most, the first and foremost, most important thing that a lot of the top guys, a lot of, anybody that's in the majors, you're going to at least I would think, is what's going to prepare me the best for the major. So like I've had success in majors when I play the week before. “But playing San Antonio the week before the Masters for me doesn't feel like that's getting me prepared as much as possible for the Masters. Therefore, I don't play San Antonio. I had a year where the PGA, when it was at Southern Hills I wanted to play the week before Byron Nelson, it's easy travel, and I played the week before. So it's very situational of when you play, don't play in that regard. “But I mean I really, really, really try with all my might to not do four in a row, four in a row is like I'm not fun to be around. It's very taxing. So I try to cap it at three. “And, yeah, there's a lot of great tournaments, we're very fortunate to have to miss some great events, but you have to at some point. Tommy Fleetwood about his set up for the Masters this week and he gave a really insightful answer about what clubs he needs at Augusta National: “It's a great 9-wood golf course. I think it's always been -- I can't remember when I first put like a 9-wood in or a high lofted club, but it's a perfect like 9-wood golf course. I've had that in the bag for a few years. “No, the bag setup stayed the same really. So the way that I do set it up actually works very well for Augusta, so that's great. “Yeah, it's funny really because I know Augusta is probably associated with being fairly forgiving off the tee in a way, so you think you can whale around driver a little bit. But I don't necessarily think that's always the play for me. I think there's holes that set up really well where I can draw it with the mini driver if I'm feeling less comfortable with the driver and things like that. “The biggest thing is the 9-wood for me. If I can put myself in position on the par-5s or the 4th long par-3, like it -- for me, I can't really hit that high 4-iron, so 9-wood helps me a lot.” I don’t think he’s ever heard Augusta National described as a great 9-wood course before! 🐺: to me, changbin is like a friend back in australia. that's how much i care and feel comfortable. maybe because i spend so much time with changbin, we really do talk a lot. like a conversation of silence. we're so comfortable that we just sit next to each other and do our own thing. 🐖🐇: i think chan hyung feels the most comfortable with me. he doesn't usually talk about his worries but to me, i'm the only one he opens up a lot to. he leans on me a lot too even tho i'm the dongsaeng.

After an opening 74 at the PGA Championship that he described as “shit”, Rory McIlroy bounced back with a bogey free 67 that he says was “not as shit” to comfortably make the cut.
