To fully understand the scope of these effects and to prevent this happening again in the future, we need to establish an accurate and detailed timeline of events and associated facts. Placing the most up-to-date information on the record will uncover the truth behind the decisions made and their consequences. These are essential for restoring accountability and trust in governments, and health services and departments. We must make this issue a federal election matter, with the goal being to awaken the public with clear, understandable facts. The public needs to become aware of the magnitude of the problems we faced. The mishandling of this crisis is not a matter of minor errors. It involved significant failures that demand accountability and serious repercussions. That is the only way to restore trust in our medical systems and in our government systems and processes. This issue is far from over. We owe it to ourselves and to future generations—especially our children and grandchildren—to address these failings directly, clearly and bluntly. We must hold those responsible accountable and ensure that such lapses are never repeated.

Today I met with the Chairman Senate Committee on Health, Senator Ipilabo, in her capacity as our oversight Senator. I shared with her my visions and we both agreed that we must work hard to ensure our Public Health Services is Good, Safe and Inviting. And that we must provoke confidence in our citizens to make use of our public health institutions. She commended the vision and plans I shared with her and expressed her hope in our leadership. “I am happy about all the plans you have and wish you the great success. I emphasized the urgent need to rebuild our party on the foundation of unity, fairness, and respect for grassroots leadership. I also reaffirmed my decision to contest in the upcoming primaries and shared my deep concern about the unfair treatment all MMDCEs faced under the previous administration. Excessive centralization in Accra undermined local governance, stripped MMDCEs of real power, and stalled development in our communities. I assured them, under my leadership, that will change. It’s time to restore dignity to public service and give real power back to the people on the ground. Together, we will rebuild and rise.
