Trump administration is falling all over themselves trying to figure out how not to blame Russia for all terrible things that they’re doing. Russia is adversary and enemy of United States. The fact that Trump administration is contorting itself trying to make that not the case is pretty horrifying, actually. I think most people, including many Republicans, are horrified by that position. There was Economist/YouGov poll conducted last week. The poll shows that majority of Americans in all political parties support military aid for Ukraine, support Ukraine, and think Putin is a very bad guy. So it’s not in public or American national interest to be sort of mollycoddling Russia, but that’s what Trump is doing, and people working for him are doing so on his instruction.

Journalist pointed out that Russia is providing Iranian targeting information to hit American bases, and asked Trump, "What do you think about this?" Trump was desperately trying not to acknowledge it, and so he said, "Well, I'm not sure that's true. I'm going to check with Putin on that," and so on and so forth. It's pretty obvious to me that Trump is on Putin's side. It's obvious to a lot of people who have been following this thing. I don't think you can sort of look at the facts on the surface and say, "Well, it makes sense that America would be mad about that," because it's not America, it's Trump. Trump has got whatever deal he has with Putin. I don't think we'll ever know exactly what that is. But whatever that deal is causes him not to act in the US national interest when it comes to Russia.
