I’ve had this fight myself! No, he didn’t get stabbed because of it. He’s absolutely right. Hospitals treat you like you’re an inmate in a jail. Wasn’t long ago you could go out with an IV pump in tow & sit for hours & smoke. Some states still allow you to go out and smoke.

Why are the whites like this?

These types of patients are fucking horrible and the nurses and doctors will still get blamed and the hospital will fire everyone of them and take this dipshit dudes side. The health care industry is fucked for the people who work in it.

The nurses blew this way out of proportion. A simple, sorry man I can't let you go outside with the IV in your arm. If you're cool with it let me take it out, you do your thing, come back and we'll put another one. Sounds good? That's all it took. This hospital staff is breaking the law for holding him against his will.

I have been in these situations as an RN! It’s disgusting what we have to endure! We cannot allow anyone to leave the hospital for any reason with an IV!!

He could have left against medical advice, but he can’t just leave with an IV in and come back. If he were to die on the street while he was having a cigarette the family could sue. It’s a policy in literally every hospital in the US. He needs to man up and grow a pair.
