Because of a bug in Android 8.0, it is possible to bypass lock-screen timeout and disable Android PIN/Password/Pattern using ADB commands In the video, I automatically tested 26 different PINs in a row without 30 seconds timeout being triggered. As a result, PIN was found and lock-screen protection removed. This bug was fixed in Android 8.1 and above OS versions. This method can be used only on devices with enabled debugging. More info:

DON'T LET YOUR BITCOIN DIE WITH YOU 💀 ⚰️ Yea look, nobody likes to admit it but we all have to die one day. As I've been talking to people about their self custody lately - both Casa members and not - I hear the same thing over and over. "What happens if I die?" Many people feel pretty good about their bitcoin security for themselves. But their family members often have no idea how to use this stuff. Hardware wallet? Seed phrase stamped on metal? Shamir's secret sharing backups using SD cards, a passphrase, and a treasure hunt through the backyard with a shovel? 😵 We're solving that problem for all Casa members, starting today with Casa Inheritance. A key design principle we kept while building this was to make it as simple as possible for Recipients (your family members that will receive your bitcoin if you pass), while maintaining Casa-level security. An estate transfer is already a stressful time for family, and it can become even more stressful if you add in a crazy treasure hunt to access a fortune in bitcoin. For our basic 3 key vaults, we wanted it to be as easy as using the app. No metal plates, no need to use a hardware wallet, no magic passwords you have to keep track of or else risk messing up the asset transfer. Simplicity is security. So how does it work, in detail? A Vault Owner (Casa member) designates a Recipient (their family or friend) in the Casa app. The Recipient receives an invite to create a free Casa account. The Recipient scans a QR code provided by the Vault Owner, which contains an encrypted version of the owner's mobile key. This encrypted key is only able to be imported by the Recipient's Casa account, and the Recipient can't initially use it or see the vault balance. If the Vault Owner passes away, the Recipient can request access to the vault in their Casa app. This starts a 6 month timer, and sends a ton of notifications every month to the owner. If the owner is still alive, they can reject the request in app. If they are not, the timer will run out. When it does, the Recipient will be able to use the shared mobile key and the request a signature from the Casa Recovery Key for the shared vault. This gives them 2 out of 3 signatures, enough to access the assets. For 5 key vault users, one hardware key is shared with the Recipient. This small increase in friction for Recipients is often worth it for the increased security and resilience of a 5 key vault for larger holdings. To summarize now that you have the details: 1. Share keys and vault access during setup 2. 6 month timelock to ensure no malicious theft 3. Use shared keys and Casa key to access assets Full setup takes less than 5 minutes. Inheritance is one of the biggest problems in self custody today. Ex-FBI agent Stu Kaplan stated that ICE agents are bound by Customs and Border Protection use-of-force policy, which explicitly prohibits placing oneself in front of or behind a moving vehicle, except during limited inspection scenarios. He said this policy exists precisely because people may flee during stops. He argued the agent violated that policy by stepping into the vehicle’s path, thereby manufacturing an exigent circumstance. In Kaplan’s view, the danger was created by the officer’s own actions, not by an intentional attack by the driver. Kaplan emphasized that flight is foreseeable and legally anticipated behavior during law-enforcement encounters. Courts, including the Supreme Court, have recognized that officers must plan for the possibility of flight rather than positioning themselves in a way that turns flight into a deadly-force scenario. He noted that the video shows the driver attempting to turn away, not drive toward the agent, and that the agent began drawing his weapon immediately as the car moved, despite having placed himself in harm’s way. Levin's new episode "Stewarding the Flame" is out just now :) The focus: At the dawn of AGI, how can we make sure that the intelligences we're conjuring will add to a FLOURISHING of the process-of-life, rather than a brute optimizer that squashes life? As we get closer to superintelligence few topics are more pressing, and few people are thinking as deeply about the nature of life and intelligence as Levin. Parishioners of St. Great Martyr George the Victorious parish of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) in Pryiutivka say they are facing ongoing threats and attempted seizures by activists linked to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU). Enough is enough….stop bashing the police..leave them alone now over the Henry Nowak case…that’s what we are being told. Sorry, but NO. Heads must roll. They always use the phrase “lessons will be learned”…but they never are. The only way actual change will come about is if people lose their jobs and their pensions. From top to bottom people need to be kicked out. As more info emerges it’s clear this was not just a terrible mistake on the night from some officers. Digwa was not even searched let alone handcuffed. That stems from a policy, not a mistake. Hampshire police continued to try to demonise Henry even after he’d died. Do you ride a bike? Or an e-scooter? Or walk a dog? If so, please take a second to read this. If you are on a bike or scooter on a shared pathway and approaching someone walking a dog, please be courteous and slow down a little. Especially if coming up from behind. I am a wheelchair user with a dog and we have way too many close calls with fast moving bikes and scooters. People not using a bell and whipping by within inches. If the dog turned it's head or stepped a bit wide, they'd be hit. I'll happily move as far to one side of the path as possible, and if I've got the younger dog who isn't as experienced around fast moving things, I'll stop at the very side and have him sit in front of me to give everyone as much space as possible. If I don't know you're approaching, I can't do that. So please, for the love of dog, use your bell. Don't wait until you're right behind someone with a dog. Use it while you're still at a distance, and if you aren't sure they noticed it, ring it a few more times. Give them as much time as possible to move to the side and prepare the dog. If it's a puppy or a dog that hasn't had much experience with bikes, being able to get them off the path or give them a little extra distance from the fast moving bike helps prevent them from getting scared. The vast majority of cyclists are great and really respectful, but there's always a few that aren't. This year the challenge is kids on e-scooters. They are going fast and having fun. Safety isn't at the forefront of their mind. They often don't use a bell or slow down at blind corners, and many don't think about giving the dog any space. I've been startled a few times by them so I can only imagine how the dog felt. This is one of the reasons why I do a lot of desensitization and counter conditioning. Dog owners-you need to do your part to. If you've got headphones on, make sure you can still hear the bike bell. Make sure to give the cyclist or scooter rider as much space as possible from your dog. And of course, unless you are on a designated off leash trail, keep your dog on a leash. If you have a puppy or a newly adopted dog that might not be comfortable around bikes, take some kibble or treats and go hang out with them near a multi use path. Let them watch. As the bike or scooter approaches, drop a few treats on the ground. For many dogs, this is all it takes, but if your dog is visibly stressed, fixated on the bike, or reacting, try moving a further from the trail and once they're comfortable at a slightly further distance, try closer again. If they are still stressed or fearful even with more distance, don't force the issue. Instead introduce them to a bike that isn't moving, and gradually work them up from there. If they are struggling, talk to a trainer. Regardless of if you are holding a leash, riding a bike or scooter, or enjoying a walk outdoors, just be respectful. And of course, be safe.
