Bryce Harper said today when arriving at #Phillies spring training team wanted him to play 1B. However Saturday on my show Rob Thomson said Phils are better team with Rhys Hoskins.

Howard, both of those things are allowed to be true!

I believe Rob Thomson. They really missed his bat LY. They were lacking a good sold RH Power Hitter and still are. They are surely a better defensive team with Bryce on 1B, Marsh in LF and Rojas in CF. Could have worked him in between DH and 1B if they really wanted to

Imaging Eskin thinking he knows more about what’s best for the Phillies than the manager. I can’t wait for him to do this with Sirianni. Once he gets off the Eagles payroll, of course. Eskin is the biggest fraud in Philadelphia sports media.

It’s true, the Phils would be a better team w/Hoskins, but given the fact that Harper plays 1B full time now the question that needs to be asked of Phils brass is : Did you offer Hoskins a role as backup 1B/DH, power bat with 250 at bats coming off the bench?

Both things are true. The Phillies lineup is better with Hoskins. The front office wanted Harper at 1st. The decision for Harper to stay at 1st isn’t coming from Thomson. It’s not that difficult to understand.

Phillies wanted Harper to play first base? But I thought the Phillies asked Harper where he wanted to play, and Harper choose first base? Big difference. If Harper could play RF, why not bring back Hoskins at 1B? Sounds like the Phillies never intended to bring Rhys back.

@SportsRadioWIP Rhys is a power RIGHT handed bat that’s needed desperately on this roster. So, Thomson’s correct. These are questions to ask DD and watch him dance around
