Here's a good look at Kyler Zagar from Friday afternoon's scrimmage. Zagar is a 6-1 Sophomore out of Perry who features a "centerpiece" changeup. His changeup looks just like his fastball coming out of his hand, and tumbles like crazy. If he can spot and move the fastball to parts of the zone that can't be ambushed, then tunnel that changeup off of that, he can get a LOT of outs. Fastball is a 2-seam, so everything he throws moves, and it's coming from fairly long levers, so there's a TON of deception to his delivery. You'll see 90-93 go up on the board and SWEAR that it's quite a bit hotter than that. He also features a curveball that he can "steal" strikes with, then also bury hitters on occasion. Zagar spent a year at Cowley and pitched for "Lefty", and he played for Bret Bouher at Perry, who played at OSU, so he comes from GREAT stock! #gopokes #okstate

Congrats to Ethan Lund for making his College Baseball debut, and in a HUGE spot. Things weren't perfect for the 6'6 Freshman from Fishers, Indiana, but he flashed some really good stuff from the left side. This dude has great stuff, is super competitive, is already hitting in the 94 range, is 6'6, and has a big future! His coaches showed a lot of confidence in him by putting him in the position he is in today. Valuable experience! #GoPokes #OkState

Robinson Ortiz...Atta Baby! Ortiz had a HUGE year this past season, and got rewarded by being placed on the Dodgers' 40-man roster. Ortiz posted an ERA of 2.73, an average against of just .207, and had 72 Ks in 59.1 innings. And ALL of that is great. And, while the "execution" piece is still THE focus, keep in mind, he, in essence, hadn't pitched since 2021, due to Tommy John. Ortiz was a HIGHLY thought of prospect back in 2021, before his Tommy John, and came back to start 2024, but was shut down after just 6 outings and 11 innings in May of 2024. So, for him to be able to post 59.1 innings and have 48 appearances was HUGE in terms of showing that he's BACK. Then, to have the success on top of that, after such a long layoff, just goes to show how good his stuff is. Ortiz features a HUGE sweeping slider that starts well behind the back of a left-hander, and breaks from one side of the earth to the other. Trying to decipher whether that pitch is going to land "in the zone" or not is VERY difficult, even for hitters that have a LOT of MLB experience like he faced at OKC. His fastball is firm, and he can hit 6s and 7s, so those 2 pitches play well off of each other. Welcome aboard, Robinson. It's been a LONG road, one you've navigated successfully. Keep killin' it, my man. #dodgers

Tyson Hardin is the guy I'm targeting from the Brewers in potential Kevin Gausman trade talks. 24 year old starter who's already at AAA. Here's a detailed breakdown of his stuff profile courtesy of BA. It's a low release slot with good extension. Stuff plays up and misses bats. Slider in particular which has the shape and movement profile of a sweeper really intrigues me. 2436 RPM with -13.8" of HB coming in at an extremely flat VAA (-7.3). Profiles as a potential SP4 with the potential for more.

Brandon Neeck played Collegiately at Virginia and was teammates with Chris Newell, a very talented outfielder in the Dodgers system, and Jake Gelof, who is an equally talented infielder. Neeck really turned a corner towards the end of last year after making a bunch of adjustments and taking his lumps to get them mastered. He stayed "bought-in" because he is smart enough to see the big picture in terms of creating the best version of himself. The ball comes out of his hand behind a lefties back, he has some 'ride and run" on his fastball, and he creates very steep angles that make it difficult for hitters. Slider and change are good, and he mastered his sequencing to the point where he was the best reliever in the Midwest League from July 13th on. From that point of the season until the end, he posted an ERA of just 0.45, a K% of 31%, just a 7% BB%, 0.63 Avg. Against, and .127 Slug against. Dude is climbing, stay tuned! #dodgers

How about a ShipRaidersBaseball team that made some noise yesterday, winning both games of the doubleheader on the road against a Top 5 Millersville team? JT Weaver was excellent in the first game, throwing a complete game shutout with 4 hits allowed and 4 Ks. Austin Baal had 2 HR and 4 RBI in that game, he went 3-for-5 in the doubleheader. Justin Byler went 2-for-4 with a HR and 3 RBI in Game 2, he went 3-for-7 on the day. The Raiders have one PSAC series remaining and sit 4th in the PSAC East (Top 4 each division get in). #D2Baseball

😤Mowed 'em down. Incredible stuff tonight from Savion Sims (Savion Sims12) in front of ✭Five Tool Texas✭.
