For BSNL, our government has provided three revival packages totalling ₹3.22 lakh crore. We have dealt with the burden of oil bonds, addressed the “Fragile Five” economy, and undertaken bank restructuring and recapitalization. These were not small amounts but those of ₹3 lakh crore - ₹4 lakh crore, and now even fertiliser subsidies. Wherever there were weaknesses in the economy, they were left unaddressed earlier, and we are now paying for all of it. Yet, we are being questioned about GDP growth and fiscal deficit. The reality is that we are clearing the liabilities left behind. On spectrum allocation, after our government came to power, spectrum in bands such as 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2500 MHz and 3300 MHz has been provided to BSNL at auction-determined prices for 4G and 5G services. On BSNL, I must respectfully say that every criticism made against it is incorrect. If anything, BSNL was pushed into a critical condition earlier. It was in the ICU, and we have revived it and brought it back on track. The Union Cabinet has approved revival packages for BSNL. The capital infusion between 2022 and 2023 stands at ₹2.26 lakh crore. This includes spectrum allocation, capital expenditure on infrastructure, AGR dues, and restructuring of the PSU. The Make in India mandate for BSNL is a strength, not a restriction. There is no restriction on BSNL. In fact, under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, BSNL has placed an order for 1 lakh indigenously developed 4G sites for pan-India deployment. As of 28th February 2026, 97,906 sites have been installed with 4G equipment, out of which 96,103 are already operational. Additionally, the BharatNet Programme is strengthening BSNL further. An amount of ₹1.39 lakh crore has been approved to extend optical fibre connectivity to all villages across the country. - Smt Nirmala Sitharaman in Rajya Sabha

Last night, emergency services worked tirelessly through the night in the aftermath of a serious train collision between Luton and Bedford, showing the dedication and professionalism that defines those who serve our communities in their most difficult moments. In Kostiantynivka, Donetsk region, patrol officers rescued a couple who were trapped in their own apartment after a Russian airstrike. The apartment door was pinned by a concrete slab. The team at WCK’s Field Kitchen in Mayotte wrapped up production last week after preparing more than 580,000 hot meals for communities impacted by Cyclone Chido. With the support of these local chefs and community leaders, we were able to focus our efforts on providing traditional dishes that brought comfort to families in need. Beyond the food cooked at our kitchen, we also worked with restaurant partners to serve a total of 4 million meals. We are so proud of this staff, many of whom were directly affected by the storm, and their dedication to showing up every day to support their neighbors. #ChefsForMayotte

From despair to hope and from struggle to triumph, this is the incredible story of a wild elephant mother's fight for survival backed by a dedicated and professional team of foresters and vets from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu Forest Department .The mother elephant was found sick and lying on ground with her 3 months old baby roaming around her in confusion and distress.The team consulted experts and vets and successfully lifted her with the help of a crane. She was kept supported by the crane for three days while being treated by Vets. Her baby joined the herd and other siblings roaming in the nearby forests visiting the mother in the night. Thanks to the treatment,she gained enough strength and was released to freedom in the wild today. We are monitoring her to keep an eye on her well being. Yesterday, I had the pleasure of witnessing the 65th Independence Day celebration at the Sani Abacha Stadium. On this occasion, I proudly announced that our administration has made significant progress across key sectors in the past two and a half years, despite the ongoing economic challenges. In the educational sector, we have achieved remarkable success by exceeding the UNESCO benchmark. We have allocated nearly one-third of the state budgets for 2024 and 2025 to education. We have also made substantial strides in other sectors, including recruiting 6,000 new teachers and absorbing 2,000 volunteer instructors into permanent service. The event was further enlivened by colourful processions from members of the security and paramilitary services, with the exception of the Nigerian Police Force. We were also honoured to have our students and other units of children present. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to them for their unwavering dedication. - AKY
