I respectfully disagree. If someone enjoys creating content, they should do so. It’s a great way to build a side income, and these skills can’t be learned overnight - might as well start early. Everyone will find an audience, no matter what. Sure, it’s 5x easier if you’ve achieved something, but that shouldn’t be a barrier. If only ultra-successful people were allowed to yap, there’d be no one relatable for the general population. And at what point should someone start building a personal brand? At $100k/month? Or should only Ray Dalio be allowed to yap? “Yap and build” can work. Some people prefer yapping over building, some are the other way around. Of course, I’m not talking about people who make false claims and rent cars and watches to flex (they should die immediately) - everyone else is completely fine. I can think of many people who started a personal brand before becoming a “high-value man with a huge shisha in Dubai.” That doesn’t make their content bad. Hamza, Andrew Kirby, Jack, etc., just to name a few.

What about documenting your journey when starting a business?

Alternative: share the journey instead of posing as an authority in the finance space. Get what you want by growing with your audience and also your not lying about your achievements

I agree. I think building a personal brand for the sake of it is pointless and almost impossible. Instead focus on providing value through your socials so that you stand out to your prospects and nurture them before they ever hop on a call.

Whats your view on community first approach as mentioned by @gregisenberg ? I guess it’s probably similar Eg you still need to ship something of value to the community (information, knowledge, connection) before you can build a reputation sufficient enough to launch a product to that community.

“if you haven’t don’t anything great, you aren’t going to be able to say anything great.” blind leading the blind is a really good way to frame this Charlie
