We are witnessing a fundamental shift in how software is built. Over the decades, UI was static and predictable. But AI is changing the fundamental nature of the interface. We are moving away from fixed UI and toward a new standard: Generative UI. Generative UI lets agents participate in the UI, not just the conversation. It’s a dynamic participant in the user experience. Depending on the complexity of your app, Generative UI generally falls into three categories: 1. Static (AG-UI): UI is chosen from a fixed set of hand-built components 2. Open-Ended (MCP Apps): agent sends arbitrary content like raw HTML or iframes for total flexibility. 3. Declarative (A2UI): agent and frontend communicate via a structured UI spec for dynamic widgets and forms. The AG-UI Protocol by CopilotKit is the real breakthrough. AG-UI acts as the universal transport layer. It provides the integrations and middleware for every Gen-UI spec, making it trivial to bring dynamic components into your existing app. CopilotKit provides the go-to ecosystem for building agentic applications and is the React client of AG-UI. AG-UI makes building agentic applications dramatically easier. Here's how it works. This is a model for a simple chatbot: User → LLM → Response But interactive agents that render UI, pause for approvals, and ask users for input need a much more complex model. When building these agents, a response from the LLM will include a series of state changes as the agent runs: • Agent started a task • Agent called a tool • Agent updated its state • Agent streams these tokens • Agent is waiting on a human • Agent is resuming the task The Agent-User Interaction Protocol (AG-UI) treats the LLM response as a stream of events rather than a text endpoint. In practice, here is what you get as an agent runs: 1. Lifecycle events so your UI knows where the agent is. 2. Text messages that stream tokens. 3. Tool calls so your UI can prefill a form with any required arguments. 4. State updates that keep your UI in sync with the agent. 5. Special events for human approvals, rich media, and custom needs. All of these events travel over standard transports (SSE, WebSockets, or plain HTTP) as JSON. As a result, you can build a frontend that stays in sync with the agent's progress without having to invent a custom process to make this happen. English is the most powerful language in the world. MongoDB just added support for MCP, and literally anyone can now query data without knowing anything about databases. If you know English, you are all set. I recorded a quick video to show you how I connect to a sample Airbnb database and run different queries: • How many listings? • How many listings in the US? • What's the list of countries in these listings? It takes 10 seconds to configure Claude, Cursor, WindSurf, or any other AI assistant to connect to MongoDB's MCP Server. By the way, the server supports much more than queries: • You can explore your collections • You can fetch schema information • You can generate app code snippets • You can manage your databases • You can handle cluster/user/admin tasks Here is a link to the MCP server GitHub repository: This is huge for developers. I am so blessed. Just got to talk with Emad for an hour about what will it mean to be human in a world where we have super intelligent AIs, robots, brain computer interfaces, holodecks that can simulate everything. Yesterday and Anmol Chaman, who are building a new service for entrepreneurs to run their sales effort and go to market strategies on, came over the house to show me their new company. So, when Aliko Dangote talks in this video and says he is staying in a rented apartment in Abuja, does that mean he is poor or campaigning? What about Warren Buffett, who said he regretted even building the only house he has since 1958 in Omaha? Is he poor? Is he looking for your vote? What about Elon Musk, who openly promotes minimalism, sold most of his houses, including his big California properties, and for a period lived in a small rented tiny house near SpaceX in Texas? Is he poor? Peter Obi that donates millions almost every market day for different causes is now poor because he said, “I don’t have a house in Abuja”? Una dey confuse simple living with poverty. A #mixedreality app that has taken a lot of risks and has proven everybody was wrong is Pillow 🌙 🛏️. 1️⃣ Pillow forces the user to lie down in bed and look up at the ceiling to fish from a #digital pond or enjoy a bedtime story. 2️⃣ Pillow forces the user to physically stretch his arms to a sheep jump over a fence to select the experience he wants (who needs laser pointers for that ?). 3️⃣ Pillow is not about action or puzzling, it can be about reflecting on other's life experiences or your own at the end of a long day. 👏 Congratulations to Lucas Rizzotto and his team for proving everybody was wrong and that meaningful and well-designed #XR apps have a space and an audience

A #mixedreality app that has taken a lot of risks and has proven everybody was wrong is Pillow 🌙 🛏️. 1️⃣ Pillow forces the user to lie down in bed and look up at the ceiling to fish from a #digital pond or enjoy a bedtime story. 2️⃣ Pillow forces the user to physically stretch his arms to a sheep jump over a fence to select the experience he wants (who needs laser pointers for that ?). 3️⃣ Pillow is not about action or puzzling, it can be about reflecting on other's life experiences or your own at the end of a long day. 👏 Congratulations to Lucas Rizzotto and his team for proving everybody was wrong and that meaningful and well-designed #XR apps have a space and an audience
